With the biggest playing and managerial names in world football, the Premier League really is the marquee league in the world. With the high-quality football and masses of marketing behind it all, it makes it a dream for punters. There’s so much available in terms of research and reviews on each matchday of the Premier League, it really draws the punters in.
Obviously with the masses of money and marketing that goes into the Premier League, plenty of people have a bet on it across the world and one of the main reasonings is the amount of markets and choice available.
You lot would have seen me using a few different more specialist markets on a few of the big Premier League markets. A few that have really taken my fancy recently are Shots on Target & Player Cards, both of which are extremely lucrative when priced up by the bookie. As you’ll have all seen on Twitter & Instagram, I use these types of bets to great effect in my specials, combining a few players for some big odds.
How to back up your bets
One thing that I find crucial when picking my bets is the research that sits behind each selection and obviously in such a highlighted league the stats and research behind the Premier League is incredible. That’s anything from BTTS percentages to player shots on target/player cards. Some of my favourite places to research these statistics are:
- Flashscores
- WhoScored
- Premier League
- WinDrawWin

Key Markets
As I said previously, there’s plenty of markets that are offered especially on the big clashes and it’s important to take advantage of these if you’ve found success there. Some of the more common markets can also pay dividend when it comes to the Premier League and I’ll go into a few different markets in detail below.
Match Result
The simplest betting market there is and this can be heavily skewed in the Premier League, with teams like Man City starting at prices of below 1.10 at home to teams like Crystal Palace. A game that finishes 2-2 with the draw market paying out at 11.00, which would have been highly lucrative for a punter backing against them to win, whether that be on sportsbook or the exchange.
I know this is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to a match result and a lot of the time, this wouldn’t be the case. As I said with the amount of resource that sits behind the Premier League, it’s usually fairly easy to grasp an idea of starting XI’s before they are announced.
Personally, I don’t tend to bet much on Match Result, especially in the Premier League, but as singles this market can be great, especially if you’ve identified value in a selection. Like I said, there can be some big value in selections like the one case above, especially if you believe the team news that you’ve found.
Both Teams to Score
The Premier League isn’t notorious for BTTS but it can prove lucrative due to the higher odds offered, especially in tighter matches where attacks don’t score too often. The likes of Burnley vs Newcastle springs to mind, but their defences are just as dreadful and leak goals for fun.
You’ll be offered fairly decent odds on a selection like this and sometimes it can be sharp to beat the market with statistics like this. If you’re feeling slightly less confident on this bet, then there’s always the Over 1.5 Goals market, which usually jumps out to me for a Saturday Accumulator. You’d be offered odds of around 1.36/1.40 on a match like the one above and that can prove great for boosting the odds of an accumulator.
