Using the Betfair Exchange to bet on Tennis

Tennis is fast becoming one of the top sports to bet on the Exchange, with its ever-growing expansion and number of matches, it really is a trader’s dream.

Many professional traders will delve into the Tennis markets on the Exchange, with their abilities and strategies able to make you profit. As it is with all trading, having a solid strategy is key to long term success.

On the face of it, Tennis can be a very simple sport to bet on, with the obvious choices of Match Result, Over/Under in Sets/Games taken precedent in more conventional sportsbook betting. There’s plenty of strategies that I’ll go into in a bit more detail to hopefully help you out.

The first of those is going into the detail of a single game within a set, which both backing and laying options available to you on either the server or the returner. First up, backing a player to win their service game or to break, good examples would be Milos Raonic for a hold of throw and Novak Djokovic to break.

It’s obviously situationally, but you’ll find a group of players that you’ve profited from previously like the two listed above. Their odds will reflect their abilities to both hold and break serve, but the ability to trade out if a player starts the game well or badly.

Due to the speed in which you’re able to bet on the Exchange, a single point can mean the difference between profiting or losing. You’ll be watching a particular game and will hopefully be able to benefit by taking advantage of the early points in the game.

One of the most common versions of this is watching a confident server going behind in a game, say 0-30 or 15-40. The odds will obviously reflect that the server is the underdog, but if you’re able to have a researched punt on this, you can potentially take advantage of this situation.

This goes the same per game in a set, a break of throw can really throw the odds on a particular set and a lot of the time, there are multiple breaks in a set. Having the confidence in a player to get back into a set after being broken, can really reap rewards. If you find a system that works and stick to a solid strategy and bankroll responsibly, you’ll benefit from this chosen trading strategy.
