The Spanish side are no strangers when it comes to corners, and the direct running from the likes of Kubo and Barrenetxea out wide certainly helps them pin the full backs and force those sorts of situations.

They’ve seen an average of 9.40 match corners, amassing 5.00 per game themselves, but the 4.40 conceded per game should encourage Inter. 7+ has landed in all but 1 of Sociedad’s league games, and they’ve even hit the mark of 7 on their own twice.

Corners have somewhat been a premium in Inter games this season, with an average of 7.25 per game, but Inter themselves are averaging 5.00, and their total domination of sides is largely what’s causing this.

Their shape really does allow them to get in behind, but the lack of cover out wide means that Sociedad will find success. Inter managed 8, and 7 corners in their first 2 games, a good omen.

Spanish sides in general love a card, and despite being one of the less egregious offenders in La Liga, 2.20 cards per game would be more than good enough for Sociedad here.

They’ve picked up at least 1 card in their 5 league outings, and against an Inter side loaded with quality, I don’t see that changing.

Despite utter dominance in the early stages of the season, Inter are averaging 1.25 cards per game, just above that 1 card threshold.

They’ve received at least 1 in all 4 of their Serie A games this season, and with the likes of Calhanoglu, Barella, Dumfries, De Vrij, and Bastoni, the Italian outfit have a whole host of potential culprits who love a foul.

Sociedad drew 3 cards out of Madrid at the weekend, with their opponents receiving 3.00 on average. If they can do that, they can force change out of Inter here.

Benfica are dominating games this season, hardly a surprise given the general level of the Portuguese league. That goes for corners as well, where they’ve averaged 6.20 to their opponents 2.40 for an average of 8.60 per game.

The home side have a 100% hit rate for 7+ match corners when playing at the Estadio da Luz, even going as far as to hit 11 and 9 in their two home games thus far.

Salzburg are producing similar numbers in a similarly weak league, with 6.86 corners per game, and 3.14 conceded. The 7+ mark has been obliterated in every Salzburg game this season, with the Austrian champions hitting the mark on their own on 4 occasions.

You might think Benfica’s strength compared to their opponents in Portugal would mean that they don’t pick up too many cards, but you’d be very wrong. We need just the 1 Benfica card here, yet they’re averaging 3.00 per game. They’re rough, they’re aggressive, and they’ll get stuck in against Salzburg.

They’ve picked up a card in all of their league outings thus far, including a combined total of 5 across their 2 home games.

Salzburg are averaging just 1.57 cards per game, but given the jump in quality here, that should absolutely increase. They’ve gone just 2 games without a card in their 7 league outings, but given that Benfica’s opponents average 3.40 a game, I’d expect Salzburg to pick up at least 1.

Sevilla vs Lens

Sevilla are an absolute crossing machine, and so it comes as no surprise that corners are very much a huge weapon in their arsenal. Both En-Nesyri and Rafa Mir are more than capable in the air, and provide a great target to hit. Not to mention, Sergio Ramos has one hell of a leap as well.

There’s an average of 9.75 corners per Sevilla match, 6.00 of those in favour of Sevilla themselves. 7+ corners has comfortably landed in every Sevilla game this season, the lowest total they’ve seen being 8.

Despite a pretty horrific start to the season, Lens are still controlling large portions of their fixtures. Corners are one such area in which they haven’t struggled, and the French outfit have averaged a massive 7.00 per game, conceding a further 3.80.

Their shape lends itself to this. 3 at the back, wing back, a front 3, there’s plenty of width that allows Lens to get in behind in wide areas and force corners. As a result, 7+ corners has landed in all 5 of their league games, and they’ve hit that magic barrer 3 times on their own.

We should have little to worry about when it comes to Sevilla and cards. A regular offender, the Europa League champions are averaging 3.00 cards per game, and are yet to go a match without a card this season.

They picked up 3 in their first win of the campaign at the weekend, and with Ramos orchestrating from the back, expect a few kicks here and there.

Lens are no strangers to a card themselves, and have been racking them up for fun in Ligue 1 this season. They’re averaging 3.00 cards a game, even going as far as to receive 5 against both PSG and Brest.

They’ll be looking to get out of their current slump, and they’ll do so via any means necessary.
