Brighton vs Ajax Stats Pack, Bet Builder Tips and Predictions

Brighton vs Ajax Bet Builder Stats Pack Featured Image

Brighton host managerless Ajax at the AMEX Stadium where there is the potential for a wild night of football. The Seagulls’ first taste of Europa League action at home resulted in a 3-2 defeat vs AEK Athens, and they followed it up by drawing 2-2 away to Marseille. They now face an Ajax side who are having a horrible season and are currently inside the Eredivisie relegation zone. They sacked Maurice Steijn earlier this week, but the good news is that they have two points in this group and have something to build on.

Brighton vs Ajax Predicted Lineups

March and Wellbeck injuries a blow

In their previous match against Man City, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi revealed that Solly March has suffered a bad knee injury and might be out for some time. Striker Danny Welbeck was also an early casualty in that fixture. They have problems in the full back positions where Tariq Lamptey and Pervis Estupinian are both still injured. Joel Veltman and Igor Julio look set to start for the hosts at right and left back respectively.

Familiar 4-3-3 approach for Ajax despite manager change

Caretaker Ajax manager Hedwiges Maduro takes charge of his first match but will almost certainly employ a 4-3-3 formation because it is the ‘Ajax way’. Their DNA and philosophy is to be attack-minded so we can expect a positive approach from the Dutch visitors. They will be without striker Georges Mikautadze, who they signed from Metz in the summer for £16 million. Silvano Vos returns from suspension after missing the trip to Athens in the previous round.

Brighton vs Ajax Team Stats

Manic Matches for the Seagulls

Goals at both ends have been really high in Brighton games, with an overall average of 4.44. They will make any unders backers extremely nervous, and their xG and xGA metrics demonstrate why their matches are so full of goals. Brighton are known for their shooting prowess, averaging exactly 15 per match with an impressive 6.22 on target. Corners are on the low side for the Seagulls, but cards have been very high at over six per game.

Corners through the roof for Ajax

The big statistic that sticks out like a sore thumb is how many goals Ajax have conceded per game (2.25). They are not conceding huge numbers of shots or shots on target, but their xGA of 1.79 suggests that the Dutch outfit are giving up far too many big opportunities. Corners have been astronomically high in their games, with an average of 12.88. Whether Ajax can contribute as many corners themselves in a match like this is debatable though. Cards have been low, as is often the case with Dutch teams as they tend to play the game in a fair way.

Brighton vs Ajax Shots and Shots on Target Stats

Ferguson and Fati firing freely

Ansu Fati has a very high shots-per-90-minutes count, but it must be remembered he’s often been used as a substitute, so his minutes are a bit distorted. If he can last a significant chunk of time on the field, though, he could be considered because he clearly likes a shot. The Barcelona loanee is 1.30 to have three or more shots, and that could be added to your Brighton bet builder. As the projected starting striker, Evan Ferguson is the shortest price of any player to have at least one shot on target (1.17). He is extremely reliable though and averages 2.27 shots on target per 90 minutes. It might be a temptation to back him at 1.83 to test the keeper at least twice.

Brobbey and Bergwijn worth a look

It makes sense to target the Ajax attackers in the shooting markets. Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey are most likely to cause Brighton some issues on the break and both average around 2.50 shots per 90 minutes. Brobbey has been the most accurate, and the 2.0 on him having at least one shot on target does look big considering his numbers. He is as big as 1.62 just to have a couple of shots, which might be an even better option to add to your Ajax bet builder.

Brighton vs Ajax Goals and Assists Stats

Seagulls Hungry for a Good Feed

Kaoru Mitoma is always a great option for Brighton and has weighed in with a combined six goals and assists this term. He will no doubt get chances, and his shooting rate is often on the lower side because of his excellent decision-making. He can be backed at 1.67 to score or assist, and this is the best market to take him in if you like him to have a good game.

Another player worth keeping an eye on in this same market is Simon Adingra, who has been starting to make an impression recently. Evan Ferguson is the leading scorer for Brighton, and it’s no surprise to see him as the shortest price of any player to net anytime (1.73).

Attacking duo again the standouts

Ajax are going to lean heavily on both Brobbey and Bergwijn again. The duo top their scoring charts with four and three respectively. If you like either of them to go well on the South Coast, then look towards the anytime goalscorer market rather than assists. Brobbey is 4.33 to hit the back of the net, whilst former Tottenham man Bergwijn is an even bigger 4.50. Left back Borna Sosa leads Ajax for assists with three and could be an interesting option at 6.50 to score or assist.

Brighton Cards and Fouls Stats

Veltman under fire?

The South Coast outfit average nearly three cards per game with Japanese international Kaoru Mitoma topping their charts with three. He averages less than one foul per game and the two players to watch in the fouls markets are Ansu Fati and Joel Veltman. Barcelona loanee Fati is 1.30 to have one or more fouls with Veltman as big as 1.36. Either could be decent options to add to your Brighton bet builder.

10 25 2023 BRIGHTON betbuilder stats pack CARDS FOR1

Ajax have drawn less than two cards per game from their opponents and there aren’t too many standout players who could cause major issues in this way. The two attackers on the break, Brobbey and Bergwijn, are again the most likely to give Brighton any grief, adding weight to Veltman perhaps being their most vulnerable opponent.

Ajax Cards and Fouls Stats

Midfielders looking to stop Brighton attacks

The Dutch visitors are generally a very clean team and only average 1.62 cards per match. Brighton are the masters at making games frantic though and have drawn a massive 3.44 on average from their opponents. Something must give and maybe the midfield is worth watching in their attempt to stop fast counter attacks. Benjamin Tahirovic and Silvano Vos both average at least one foul per game with Tahirovic especially looking vulnerable. He is 3.75 to be carded in this game which could be considered when constructing your Ajax bet builder.

10 25 2023 AJAX betbuilder stats pack CARDS FOR1

There are several Brighton players brilliant at drawing free kicks and potential foul magnets. The attacking trio of Fati, Ferguson and Mitoma are going to put plenty of pressure on the Ajax defence with perhaps Anton Gaaei at right back coming under fire from Mitoma. An interesting matchup is between Steven Bergwijn and Joel Veltman with both potentially being card candidates. Veltman draws nearly three fouls per 90 and if Bergwijn presses hard then the 1.36 on him producing one or more fouls could look big.
