Man Utd V Chelsea

Chelsea players are falling over themselves to get into the referees notebook. They sit top of the table with a collective 47 so far this season, which is 20 more than United have picked up. They’ve been particularly frequent of late, with 21 cards coming in the last 4 games. Chelsea have won the card battle in 3 of those 4 games, with the other being a draw against Spurs. Spurs ended up with 9 men and still Chelsea matched them for cards.

United on the other hand have lost 3 of the last 4 card battles and sit a lowly 13th in the card table. Whilst Fernandes is out on his own as United’s most carded player this season with 4, Chelsea have 5 players who can match or better that, with Jackson out in front having picked up 7 so far.

Chelsea have won or drawn the match cards battle in all their games against top 6 opponents this season and I’m expecting the league’s most carded team to come out on top once again.

Football icon Nicolas Jackson 1+ SOT
Arrow down

Jackson loves to shoot, he averages over 3 shots per 90, with a season to date average of 1.36 per game.

His record against the big teams stands out even more. He’s managed at least one shot on target against Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, and Villa so far this season. His average goes up to 1.66 per game when playing against the current top 6, with Newcastle being the only team he’s not had a shot on target against.

United for their part give up 5 shots on target per game. Jackson had 50% more shots on target than any other Chelsea player this season and I’m backing him to get at least one away against United.

Football icon Reece James 1+ Foul
Arrow down

Reece James will be returning from suspension after getting sent off for two yellows in his last outing against Newcastle. The right back averages 1.14 fouls per 90 so far this season and he’ll have some tough competition against United.

Garnacho has been getting the nod on the left for United recently and he draws more fouls than anyone else, with an average of over 3 per game. James will have his hands full and I’d be surprised if he gets through the whole game without picking up a foul.

Chelsea foul a lot, they’re averaging almost 15 per game across their last 15 matches. If Garnacho starts then James will have his hands full and I’d be surprised if he gets through the whole game without picking up a foul.
