Kristiansund vs Molde
Over to Norway for this one, I’ve always been an avid bettor on the Eliteserien and I’ve been doing my homework since it’s resumption.Molde are the favourites here (1.87) after a really impressive start to the season. They’ve won 4/4 and have scored 12 goals in the process. However, they’ve only kept 1 clean sheet and conceded in both games against newly-promoted sides.
As for Kristiansund they’ve started really well too and currently sit 3rd with no defeats from their first 4. After a bore 0-0 on opening day, their games have been full of action. Finishing 7-2, 2-2 and 2-1. I think they’ll give Molde some problems here and clearly the bookies don’t think it’ll be a walk in the park either.
From reading some local articles the feeling is much the same, Molde were beaten in this fixture last season (both teams also scored) and many are fancying there to be a similar story here. Molde are too much of a force going forward to struggle to score in this one, especially with Kristiansund conceding in their last 3 to sides weaker than tonight’s visitors. Molde haven’t covered themselves in glory defensively either and in a similar vein they’ve been breached at the back against poorer sides.
Molde and Bodo Glimt are already looking like pulling away at the top, they’ve earmarked themselves as a big potential scalp for the other clubs in the league. I expect Kristiansund to raise their game here with the hope of continuing their solid start to the campaign.
Fredericia vs Hvidovre
Just how good has Denmark been for us and goals since the restart? We’ve smashed loads of in-plays from there recently. I’ve found them to be a real gold mine for goals and I think I’ve found a great selection here.
We’re heading into 8th game week since the return for these sides, more than enough time to get back into full fitness. In the past 5 league games, both Fredericia and Hvidovre have averaged one of the highest numbers of goals per game in the league. Hvidorvre with 4 and Fredericia 3.6, both numbers well above our 2.5 needed here.
Fredericia are currently 3rd in the table and are very used to playing out games with goals this. It’s happened in 74% of their league matches so far this season which is the joint highest in the league. Hvidovre since the restart have seen a 3-0 win over 8th, a 5-3 defeat vs 1st and a 4-1 defeat vs 2nd. They’re currently 10th which is a relegation spot for the Danish 1st Division.
Fredericia have scored 9 goals and conceded 9 in their last 5 league games whilst Hvidorvre have scored 9 and conceded 11 in the same period. Both teams are in good scoring form since the restart. That, added with both teams vulnerability of conceding and I think over 2.5 goals looks good here.
Atalanta vs Napoli
I’m really enjoying getting stuck into the Serie A games since it’s restart. Lazio and Juventus did the job for us on Tuesday to land the accumulator and I’m hoping for more of the same from the league tonight.
This game looks incredible for both teams to score. It’s landed in 75% of Atalanta’s league games this season (the joint highest) and 68% of Napoli’s league games. Atalanta are the Serie A’s top scorers averaging a staggering 2.8 goals scored per game. They’re on a run of 9 successive competitive matches where both teams have scored. Since the restart, they’ve won 4-1, 3-2 and 3-2.
Napoli have also been good for goals this season. They average a combined 2.9 goals per game. 5 out of 7 of their recent competitive matches have seen both teams score. No top goalscorers are missing for either side.
I could’ve gone for over 2.5 goals but I’m more than confident after reading into this game that both teams will score.
Werder Bremen vs FC Heidenheim
The first leg of the Bundesliga play off is here as top flight Bremen host 2nd division Heidenheim. This is more than just a case of backing the side in the higher division though.
Bremen pulled off somewhat of an escape after it looked like they were doomed to relegation. They won 2 of their final 4 and the last day victory against Koln has given them the opportunity to maintain their Bundesliga status. They were incredible in that match, they were under pressure to perform and they did – running out 6-1 winners. That comes just a couple of weeks after they smashed Paderborn 5-1, they were also unlucky not to get something from their 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
The return of Niclas Fullkrug has been perfectly timed. The big striker was a injured very early in the campaign after a good goal scoring start, he scored in both recent victories and could get the nod to start here.
There’s is absolutely no doubt that there’s a gulf in quality between these two squads. Bremen have had a rough season but they’ve got some very talented players, along with the aforementioned Fullkrug they have Milot Rashica, Josh Sargent, Davey Klaasesn and Yuya Osaka. All of which scored in their 6-1 weekend rout.
As for Heidenheim, they did their absolute best to throw away a season of hard work. Luckily for them, Hamburg did an even better job of that. A win over Hamburg set up a thrilling final day in the 2. Bundesliga. Heidenheim knew 3rd place was in their hands but they faced a tough trip to Bielefeld. Albeit the side who won the league, however, the hosts had nothing to play for. Heidenheim were awful, they were brushed aside 3-0 and for me are nowhere near Bundesliga quality. Bielefeld and Stuttgart went up automatically and are much more in line with the top flight. Heidenheim were done a favour by Hamburg losing 5-1 at home Sandhausen.
The odds of 1.47 on a Bremen win show that there’s definitely a perceived gap between these two teams quality. I think Heidenheim will struggle here, Bremen will look to stamp their authority on the game as not to leave themselves with work to do in the return leg.
Roma vs Udinese
I really like the look of Roma tonight. They’re currently 5th and occupying the Serie A’s Europa League spot. Champions League football is probably out of their reach as they’re 9 points behind 4th but nevertheless they need a strong finish to the season if they want to stay in that position with Napoli and AC Milan not far behind.
Their home form is good of late, 3 games and 3 wins including a 2-1 victory over Sampdoria in their first game since the restart.
Udinese are winless in their last 9 Serie A games with 5 defeats and 4 draws. Finding the net has been difficult for them, they failed to score in 5 of those 9 games and have managed just 3 in their last 5 which is the joint lowest in the league.
I’m struggling to see where their quality lies in getting something out of this game. I’m confident Roma can get the job done and take all three points.
