HamKam v Bryne (HamKam 2+ goals)
Bet 4 came in fairly comfortably last night despite the best efforts of Chesterfield who made it a little nervy when they let a 2-0 lead slip against Barnet. They ended up winning 4-2 and the goals flew in at Reading to continue our magnificent run onto Bet 5.
For the first part of bet 5 we head to the Norwegian second tier where league leaders HamKam host a struggling Bryne in the 5pm KO. The visitors sit 13th, just one point and one place above the relegation places after a terrible run of form in which they have lost 7 of their last 8 games.
HamKam meanwhile are beginning to open up a healthy lead at the top. They have won each of their last 4 games going into tonight scoring 13 in the process.
The reason I fancy them so much for this selection is their pure consistency of scoring. They have scored in every league game for over a year now, an incredible run of 32 straight league games in which they have managed to notch.
No surprise then to see they are the league’s top scorers with 39 bagged in just 17 games at an average of well over 2 goals scored per game.
Having read plenty of Norwegian sources this morning, lots of the praise about the performances of HamKam has been put on the shoulders of manager Kjetil Rekdal who was appointed just over a year ago.
OBOS expert Amund Lutnæs said “It is completely crazy, quite simply. He has turned large parts of the squad upside down and transformed the whole mentality of HamKam. There is no doubt in my mind he will be managing a top, top club one day”.
Certainly some high-praise for Rekdal who by all accounts is a fantastic manager. The hosts look to be at full strength tonight too and I have little doubt they will be able to put quite a few past Bryne side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in 2 and a half months!
Besiktas v Borussia Dortmund (Over 1.5 goals)
The second part of bet 5 takes us to Istanbul for a belter of a fixture between Turkish champions Besiktas and German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Both sides have made fine starts to their domestic seasons with Besiktas top in Turkey with 10 points from their 4 played and Dortmund 3rd in the Bundesliga with 9 points from their 4 played.
Dortmund have been absolutely fantastic to watch with new manager Marco Rose using the tactic of attack is the best form of defence.
Their games so far this season are averaging a ridiculous 5.50 goals per game. With 13 goals scored and 9 conceded so it is pretty clear why I fancy over 1.5 goals in this one.
Dortmund have actually conceded in all 4 games domestically so far and have conceded at least 2 in all of those games.
Besiktas have more than enough forward quality to trouble them too. Michy Batshuayi has joined on loan from Chelsea and made a fine start with 2 goals in his 3 apps so far. He will be joined in attack by the talented Cyle Larin who bagged an impressive 23 goals last season.
I don’t need to do so much explaining about who Dortmund have in attack do I? Erling Braut Haaland will lead the line and has already bagged five goals and four assists in four Bundesliga games this season.
Despite Dortmund exiting the tournament at the quarter-final stage, Haaland still managed to finish top scorer in the UCL last season with 10 goals in his 8 appearances.
Besiktas are without key central defender Domagoj Vida who damaged his foot in the 3-0 weekend win over Yeni Malatyaspor. This will mean natural midfielder Necip Uysal will likely have to fill in along the backline.
Over 1.5 goals has been scored in each of the last 20 Dortmund matches and I can’t see that impressive run ending anytime soon. Expect goals aplenty in Istanbul this evening in what should be a cracking encounter and hopefully take us on to Bet 6 tomorrow!
