You can read my research behind Bet 2 of the Challenge below:
FC Juniors vs Horn
The first match we’ll take a look at is FC Juniors vs Horn in the Austrian Erste Liga, we’ve touched upon this league many times this season and Horn have been regulars for us! This match looks amazing for goals and that’s what I’m going to be backing here.
If we begin with their goals averages for the season heading into the last lot of fixtures tonight, FC Juniors have averaged 3.75 goals per game, and their opponents Horn have averaged 4.17… These are a couple of tasty averages as we only need 3 goals tonight for this part of the bet to be a winner.
10 of Junior’s last 11 Erste Liga matches have seen three or more goals scored, and when it comes to Horn, 12 of their last 13 matches have seen at least three goals, and all thirteen fixtures saw both teams score so I’ll be expecting that to happen tonight also.
The main thing that stood out to me and caught my eye during my research is just how ridiculous Juniors have been defensively recently. The have conceded THIRTEEN (13) goals in their last two matches which is unbelievable really. They’ve conceded 21 goals across their last 5 in the league. Horn have been no good defensively of late either as they’ve leaked 11 goals during their last 3 outings.
Fortunately for these two sides there’ll be no relegation from the Austrian second-tier this season, and I think this helps our case. These two would be in danger in any other campaign but it means they can go into tonight’s meeting with no fear, and I’m expecting a goals fest given how mouth-watering their latest results have been.
St Gallen vs Xamax
St Gallen look like a nailed on pick for a win tonight as they’ll host Xamax who have already been relegated from the Swiss Super League… The title race isn’t quite over yet in Switzerland and the only way St Gallen can keep their hopes alive is by winning tonight.
Second-placed St Gallen suffered a couple of disappointing results recently including a 5-0 thrashing by Basel, however they did bounce back impressively in their last match as they beat Zurich 3-1 away from home. St Gallen will face Young Boys on the last match-day of the season, so imagine the scenes if the title is still to be played for! That’s where the motivation will come from for St Gallen tonight, they just need to hope Sion can do them a favour…
Xamax will bring little to no threat tonight, they have picked up just one win in their last 10 league matches. They’ve lost their last two matches on the bounce and it’s starting to look like they’ll go down with a whimper. A win for St Gallen this evening would be their third in a row over tonight’s opponents, and this time it’s a must-win fixture, it’s as simple as that. St Gallen have scored more than double the amount of goals Xamax have to their name this season.
Cedric Itten is the player to keep an eye on here, the St Gallen forward has scored 16 goals in 33 appearances this season. He didn’t start the last match in Zurich but he still managed to find his way onto the scoresheet. You’d imagine he’ll start tonight in a match they need to win, I haven’t found information to suggest otherwise.
