Odds accurate as of 30/07/2021 on Betfair, odds may be subject to change.
23,000 fans are expected to be in attendance at Ibrox on Saturday for Rangers vs Livingston and the hosts are expected to win very comfortably. Don’t just take my word for it, look at the odds… If you fancy placing a quid on Rangers to win, you’ll get just 15 pence in winnings if they do so.
How good were Rangers last season? They obliterated Celtic in the sense of any title race, collected over 100 points in total and conceded just 13 goals throughout the league campaign. The aim will simply to make it successive title triumphs this season and they will want to get off to the perfect start in the opening game this weekend.
The most impressive thing that Rangers achieved last season is that they went the full campaign unbeaten in the league which has only been achieved by two teams – Celtic did the same under Brendan Rodgers in 16/17.
Steven Gerrard has had an amazing start to his management career and he’ll cement his place as a Rangers legend if he can once more pip rivals Celtic to the title. I’m sure his players will be brimming with confidence after picking up a win over Real Madrid in preseason. Even if it is a friendly, that’s one hell of a feat.
Livingston had a poor start last season so they’ll be hoping for much better this time around, however they couldn’t have been given a tougher task than a trip to Ibrox on the opening day. Livingston failed to score in every meeting with Rangers last season, a total of 4. Rangers vs Livingston usually ends one way.
Rangers have been given a boost with Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe being available this weekend. Having said that, they’re likely to be in the squad but nowhere near the starting line-up. From what I’ve read, Gerrard might stick with the same players that beat Rangers the other day and that makes sense. If that’s the case, expect John Lundstram and Sakala to be in the team.
Livingston have no injury issues to worry about ahead of Saturday, so that’s a bonus for them. Expect them to set up in a 4-3-3 formation as that’s what they’ve been going with in the Scottish League Cup so I imagine the manager will stick with it.
Rangers Predicted Line-up:
McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Lundstram, Davies, Kamara; Hagi, Sakala, Kent
Livingston Predicted Line-up:
Stryjek; Devlin, Fitzwater, Parkes, Longridge; Holt, Pitman, Sibbard; Shinnie, Anderson, Montano

Prediction & Betting Tips
Well, I don’t expect a medal for predicting a Rangers win but it’s hard to suggest anything other than that here. With that said, I wouldn’t bother touching the straight win at those odds. You could add something extra, say Rangers to win with over 2.5 goals in the match, or Rangers to win and keep a clean sheet.
Those are in fact two bets that I really like. I’ve backed Rangers to win and over 2.5 goals in my Saturday acca and I’ve got that selection at 1.73. Rangers win to nil is 1.57 and that’s pretty solid too given some stats that I’ve come across. Livingston have failed to score in 9 of their last 10 meetings with Rangers, including all 4 of last season’s fixtures.
That’s it for Rangers vs Livingston. If you’d like to read my article about who I fancy to win the Scottish Premiership outright, you can do so by clicking here.
