You can’t let an international tournament or football season pass without having a big odds outright bet can you? Well let me tell you… This is a big odds bet and I’m backing three big names to have 10 shots on goal each. Of course it’s a long shot but I think it’s very much possible with Mbappe, Kane and Lukaku. I’ve made it quite clear in other articles that I fancy the three nations these guys play for to go far in the tournament, I can see all of France, England and Belgium making the semi-finals if I’m honest.
Mbappe up first then… I mentioned in another article that I believe Mbappe could be in the conversation for Player of the Tournament. He ran riot at the 2018 World Cup and he left most of our jaws on the floor with his pace and finishing. He managed 7 shots on target in Russia and I’m confident that we could squeeze a few more out of him, especially if you consider that his teammate Antoine Griezmann had a massive 11.France will need Mbappe to step up in the Group of Death matches against Germany and Portugal and he’ll be right up for those. They’ll also have a game against Hungary in which Mbappe could easily tear them to shreds and bag a hat-trick or something. Mbappe averages 1.78 shots on target per game for PSG, if he could keep that going for France over the course of Euro 2020 it’ll be a breeze.
Everyone knows Harry Kane’s capabilities with him winning the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, and even if some pessimistic fool wants to say they were mainly penalties, those still count as a shot on target! I just know Kane is going to be so up for this with it being on home soil, he would be anyway of course, but a big performance here could persuade one of the more successful Premier League clubs to hand Tottenham the price tag that they want.Kane has that unconventional role as a striker where he tends to drop deep but he still manages to average 1.37 shots on target per game. England will face an old Croatia side, an average Czech Republic and a Scotland side who may provide one of the tougher tests. I still see those as three wins for England where Harry Kane can be high on the goal scoring charts heading into the knockout stages.
We finish with big Rom! He’s an absolute beast isn’t he and he might be on the move this summer after an amazing season in Italy with Inter Milan. Belgium will go far in this tournament, I’ve got no doubts about that at all. They’ll face Denmark, Finland and Russia and they should win all three of those matches. In fact, they should absolutely obliterate Finland and that might end up on some adult-themed websites as full-time.Belgium have a cracking squad of players but it’ll be Lukaku that they rely on for goals. Incredibly, he’s the all-time leading goal scorer for Belgium already, 59 goals in 91 appearances! With him averaging 1.31 shots on target per game, we should see plenty of goals and chances from him.
