Wednesday 7th July, Euro 2020: 21/1 England vs Denmark Bet Builder
Our first Euros semi-final since 1996 and with both the semi and final to be played at Wembley there is no doubt we won’t get a better chance than this of ending our 50 years of hurt.
Given the circumstances, it would be rude not to put together a couple of bet builders for this one. This one is priced at a generous 21/1 and I will do another shorter odds one to accompany it.
The Danes await this evening and although it will be a very difficult game, the way we have played and particularly defended in this tournament so far, I have to say I fancy England to do the business tonight.
Seven competitive games now without conceding a goal and no team has ever kept six consecutive clean sheets in a major tournament which is something we would achieve should we keep Denmark out here.
It’ll be tough but England have superior quality, they also have a home crowd cheering them on which proved invaluable against the Germans and should offer a major advantage again tonight. We should edge it and then can look forward to the final on Sunday again at Wembley. Unbelievable! Now to the shots market where I have picked out a couple of English players to get the job done for us this evening.
First let’s go with the more obvious selection, England skipper Harry Kane. The Spurs striker had his critics throughout the group stages with his lackluster displays but with 3 goals in his last two games, he appears a different man and goes into the game tonight full of confidence.
He was full of it against Ukraine and in the 72 minutes he had on the pitch he had four shots, won three headers, took 33 touches, intercepted, tackled and even dribbled. Most importantly he looked happy, a man feeling the hard edges of his own talent once again. He’s up to 37 England goals now in 59 games, and nine in tournaments. The guy is a guaranteed goal machine.
He averages well over two shots on target per game for the three lions and given the mood he is in at the moment I have little doubt over his ability to do the business for us tonight.
For the second shot on target I will be looking to another Harry, this time I will be hoping old slabhead himself, Harry Maguire can do the business for us tonight. He scored his first goal at the Euros at the weekend with his header against Ukraine and it is no secret what a threat he is from set-pieces and has been since his introduction to the National team back in 2017.
He has registered a shot on target in each of his last two games and continues to look an enormous threat aerially from set-pieces. He is a brilliant price and looks great value to boost the odds on this particular bet builder.
We finish on a card and now we have reached the semi-final stages the card slate is wiped clean meaning all the players can go into this game without being worried about potentially being suspended for the final. This will undoubtedly encourage cards and I wouldn’t be surprised to see quite a few dished out at Wembley this evening.
The prime suspect for me in this one has to be the Yorkshire Pirlo, Kalvin Phillips. He absolutely loves a tackle and up against the tenacious duo of Hojberg and Delaney in the Denmark midfield, I am expecting some fireworks.
Phillips’ was actually the 3rd most booked player in the Premier League last season and alongside Declan Rice will be responsible for marshaling what is a very strong Danish midfield.
Phillips’ presence at the base of Leeds’ midfield has been the common denominator, never shirking a tackle, breaking up attacks. He does a similar job for England and as a result, is always involved in the thick of the action making him the prime suspect for a card at Wembley tonight.
