Jack Grealish to Man City odds
The talk around a Jack Grealish move to Manchester City this summer has been growing for months now, and the odds have dropped again following reports today that ‘confidence’ is growing in a £100m deal being struck.
The odds were closer to evens earlier this week, but that price has dropped as low as 1/2 with Paddy Power and Betfair as of writing this.
Who else is in the running to sign Jack Grealish?
At the moment Grealish is under contract at Aston Villa and a 4 year one at that so they have no obligations/buy out clause stipulations to sell him. The bookies have it as a two-horse race between him staying at Villa at 6/5 or signing with Manchester City this summer at 1/2.
Arsenal are a distant third favourite at 14/1 however I can’t see that ever happening. Interestingly, none of the European giants are available in this market. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool are around 20/1, while Tottenham are out at 50/1.
What would Jack Grealish bring to Man City?
Since Villa’s promotion back to the Premier League two seasons ago, Grealish has been a shining light scoring 14 goals and registering 16 assists as he helped them fight off relegation in 2019/20 then pushing for European places before his injury last season.
Despite making only 26 appearances last season he managed 10 assists which was the joint 4th most in the league behind only Fernandes, De Bruyne and Kane.
You’ve also got to remember these stats/form is based on him not even playing for a top 6 club too. If he was to move to Manchester City and play amongst the likes of Sterling, De Bruyne, Foden, Mahrez, Silva, Torres I reckon his career would be endless in the types of trophies and awards he could win.
His form helped him deservedly earn a run in the England side and place at the Euro 2020 Championships where we all watched just how much of a positive impact he had in the team. He came on vs Germany and changed that game with that assist, without him I don’t think we would’ve made it as far as the final and some will argue Southgate was wrong to not use him as much.
When you think of the future of the England national team and the World Cup next winter you immediately think of Grealish, Mount and Foden. Taking my Chelsea glasses off for a moment I seriously think he is England’s best talent.
He will bring heaps of creativity to Manchester City’s side and was also the most fouled player in the Premier League last season averaging 4.2 per game so prepare for plenty of free kick and even penalty kick opportunities because of him.
Good luck Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United wrestling the title off City next season if they manage to sign him.
