Celta come back from the winter break sitting 18th in La Liga with a terrible 2 wins in 18 games. The recent run of 1 win in the last 14 league games has many fans worried.

This season has continued a the steady decline at the club, finishing 8th, 11th, and 13th in the last three seasons.

Celta’s issues are obvious, they don’t score enough, scoring the division’s lowest total of 18 goals in 18 games.

Home form is even worse than the average would suggest, just 6 goals in 9 home games (0.67 p/90). As such home has not been the fortress they would have hoped for, a record of 1-4-4 shows why they are in the relegation zone.

Betis are the visitors and have set themselves up to be defensively solid this year, 18 goals against in 18 games is the joint 3rd best record in the division.

Betis are hard to beat, as evidenced by their current 13 game unbeaten run in La Liga. Their only Away loss this year was against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Head to head results have been a mixed bag however the gulf between Celta and Betis has not been this big in years. Betis will get at least a draw in this one.

A break in domestic football for a cup game may annoy some but not Jose Mourinho, he’ll be keen to secure any silverware possible.

Roma may have one eye on the league game against Atalanta at the weekend so some rotation could be a factor here, the Serie A club should have enough to beat a side from the division below at home.

Speaking of Cremonese, the side that was relegated from Serie A last season are currently 6th in Serie B.

They have struggled for form of late, winless in each of their last 3 away games against Palermo, Feralpisalo and Pisa.

Cremonese reached this round in the Coppa Italia with a last minute extra time winner against Citadella who were playing with 10 men from the 53’.

Roma won this fixture in the league last year, I can’t see that result changing this time around.
