England vs Senegal

England won’t have this all their own way and Senegal definitely have the quality to cause some problems.
Most notably is Watford’s Ismaila Sarr. In the absence of Sadio Mane, he is their main driving force.
Likely to drift across and between the lines, he’s always looking to pull the trigger whenever possible and nobody in the Senegal side has hit more attempts (8) than Sarr so far this tournament.
England have been rock solid in defence and I can see Senegal looking to take pot shots, given that their forwards will likely lack support for long periods.
Sarr really fancies himself from distance and will cut in and on to his stronger foot. If any piece of England’s armour can be poked at, it may well be Jordan Pickford.
Sarr is also in line for free kicks for Senegal, which could be a great opportunity for him to tick this selection off.

The Leicester midfielder has a huge task on his hands today as he looks to break up the play between England’s fleet footed attackers without the aid of their key defensive midfielder, Idrissa Gueye.
Gueye’s suspension means Mendy has to step up. Make more tackles, more interceptions and likely, more fouls.
Him and Gueye have both made the same number of fouls (4) despite Mendy only playing 2 matches to Gueye’s 3.
I think this is a very, very generous price.
Against USA, their midfielders racked up 6 fouls. Musah made 4, McKennie and Adams both made 1.
Against Iran, their 2 midfielders; Ali Karimi & Ahmad Nourollahi both made 2 fouls each.
Against Wales, Aaron Ramsey made 3 fouls.
The England players draw plenty of fouls, as show by those numbers. Kane has drawn 2.40 fouls P/90, Mount 3.30 and god forbid Jack Grealish comes on the pitch. He’s drawing a ridiculous 12.9 fouls P/90 having been fouled 9 times already, despite not starting a game.

This is a very self explanatory selection and one I backed against Wales. We got evens for that, only for it to drop to 1.50 by kick off.
I’m surprised the price is as high again here, given that England are yet to receive a single card at the tournament.
On the other hand, Senegal have already received 6 cards.
They’ll spend a lot of time on the back foot and they’re experts at disrupting play and breaking things up by any means necessary.
With the likes of Jakobs, up against Rashford; Mendy & Ciss in the midfield as well as Koulibaly, Sabaly & Diallo in defence, there’s so many candidates to pick up a booking.
Of all the sides left in the tournament, only Switzerland have picked up more cards than Senegal.
