PSG will arrive in Catalonia in a precarious position, having lost 3-2 at the Parc de Princes in the first leg last Wednesday.

The Parisians have not been back to the semi-finals of the Champions League since 2021 and they face an uphill task to prevent that streak being extended in what looks set to be Kylian Mbappe’s final season with the club.

Barcelona meanwhile are chasing a first semi-final berth since their infamous Anfield collapse in 2019. They will feel confident after a first leg away from home in which they were comfortably the better team and could have returned to Spain with more than just a single goal advantage.

Barcelona vs PSG PREDICTED LINEUPS

Barcelona back to full strength after weekend rest

Just two players retain their spot from Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat of Cadiz at the weekend. Ter Stegen remains in goal whilst Pau Cubarsi keeps his place at centre-back, but there are nine changes for Xavi, with Cancelo, Araujo and Kounde back to partner Cubarsi again at the back. A fit-again Pedri will take the place of Sergi Roberto who started the first leg, alongside Gundogan and de Jong in midfield, whilst Raphinha, Lewandowski and Yamal will again make up the front three, in a lineup that will mirror that of the first leg, besides Pedri’s return in place of Sergi Roberto.

6

PSG forced to shuffle the pack after poor first leg showing

Luis Enrique made some questionable choices in the first leg, but he is likely to return to a more conventional starting XI here. Achraf Hakimi returns at right-back, so Lucas Hernandez moves to left-back, and Marquinhos will partner Lucas Beraldo at centre-back, with Nuno Mendes missing out. In midfield, Fabian Ruiz is benched, as is Kang-in Lee, as Manuel Ugarte and Warren Zaire-Emery start instead. Up front, Goncalo Ramos is likely to be preferred after ex-Real Madrid man Marco Asensio was withdrawn at half time of the first leg, with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele on the flanks as usual.

Barcelona vs PSG TEAM STATS

Both teams to score looks an inevitability

The first leg demonstrated the strengths and weaknesses of both sides clearly, excellent attacking options but porous defences. Barcelona have now seen both teams scoring in five straight games in Europe and have conceded at least one goal in their last seven in the Champions League. They have at least scored in eight of their nine games this season, failing to do so just once, away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stages. PSG meanwhile have scored in every Champions League game so far and have seen both teams to score land in six of their nine European games this season, including five of their last six. Both teams to score can be backed at 1.40.

Team Stats 18

Value to be found on PSG corners

The Parisians have to go for it here and should be applying the majority of the pressure. Dominance of the ball and territory usually means corners, and so far this season, PSG have seen at least five corners in three of their four away ties in the Champions League, falling just one short of this mark against Real Sociedad. Though Barcelona have generally held their opponents to low corner tallies in Europe so far, PSG are simply a level above all their opponents to date. The Parisians had seven corners in the first leg and backing them to have five or more corners in a must-win game, having never had fewer than four on the road in this competition all season looks a solid bet here. You can back PSG to have over 4.5 corners at 1.80 or play it a little safer by backing them to have over 3.5 at 1.36.

Team Stats 19

Barcelona vs PSG SHOTS AND SHOTS ON TARGET

Raphinha to repeat first leg heroics

Raphinha was the star of the first leg, bagging twice in the game, and racking up an enormous tally of six shots, four of which were on target. The Brazilian averages more shots on target per 90 (1.45) than any other Barcelona player, even Lewandowski, and has now had at least one shot on target in eight of his last 11 competitive starts for the club in which he played more than 45 minutes. Available here at 1.36 for a shot on target, Barcelona were able to get him in behind the PSG backline multiple times last Wednesday, and it seems likely they can do so again, giving this bet a great chance to cash.

2 19

Surprisingly good value on Vitinha

If choosing purely on recent form, Vitinha should be the bookies’ favourite for a PSG shot on target, with the Portuguese international having had one in six of his last eight starts for the club, a better strike rate than any of the front three of Ramos, Mbappe and Dembele. Despite this, Vitinha is at evens to have a shot on target here. He recently had three in one game against Montpellier and managed one from two shots in the first leg of this tie. With so little value offered by the forward line, Vitinha is certainly the way to go from a PSG perspective.

2 20

Barcelona vs PSG GOALS AND ASSISTS Stats

Raphinha again looks the best bet here

Far from just having plenty of shots, Raphinha’s goal contributions have been flowing recently too. The Brazilian winger has scored six goals (including his first leg brace) and contributed seven assists in his last 11 starts in which he played over 45 minutes of the game. He scored or assisted in nine of these 11, last drawing a blank way back on March 3rd. Along with shots on target in eight of these 11 (see above), his passes have directly lead to at least three shots in eight of these 11 games. Full of confidence and clearly well-suited to facing this PSG side, backing Raphinha to score or assist at 2.10 could easily pay out here.

3 20

Goncalo Ramos offers good value for a player in form

Ramos has struggled to nail a starting spot for PSG; however the Portuguese striker is expected to start here and offers fantastic value for the Parisians. Excluding his six-minute cameo off the bench in the first leg, Ramos has now scored in three straight games for club and country, and in eight of his last 12 PSG games in which he played over 10 minutes, despite starting just seven of these games. Whilst Mbappe, who struggled to make an impact in the first leg, is priced at evens to score anytime; Ramos is the more attractive option, having both scored more goals than PSG’s main man recently, and is available at a much more appealing price of 3.50.

3 19

Barcelona CARDS AND FOULS STATS

Worth taking a punt on Joao Cancelo

Cancelo was one of just two Barcelona players to commit multiple fouls in the first leg, but this should not be a surprise. The Portuguese international has committed two or more fouls in six of his last nine Barcelona starts and has committed at least one foul in 11 straight games for the Catalan side. He will again be up against Ousmane Dembele, who draws more fouls than any other PSG player at 1.74 per 90, and also winning a foul in the first leg. Substitute Bradley Barcola took over on the right at half-time and also won a foul, so backing Cancelo to commit two or more fouls here at 2.10 is a very tempting prospect. Alternatively, you can play it safer by backing him to commit one foul at 1.22 instead.

4 19

The versatile French defender can play all across the backline but should start at left-back here. Hernandez has been fouled in each of his last three games for PSG, but his Champions League fouls won record is what really stands out. He has won fouls in each of the eight games in which he played at least some minutes as a full-back, winning two or more fouls in five of these eight, including in the first leg against Barcelona. Hernandez wins 1.41 fouls per 90 and is up against youngster Lamine Yamal, who commits the fifth-most fouls for Barcelona, at 0.91 per 90. Though he has won two fouls frequently, we recommend only backing him to win one here (at odds of 1.30), as his matchups are less favourable on the right.

5 20

PSG CARDS AND FOULS STATS

Kylian Mbappe a great price for a foul

Frenchman Mbappe was visibly frustrated in the first leg and will likely be so again if Barcelona can hold their aggregate lead here. He committed three fouls at the Parc de Princes last Tuesday yet can be backed to foul here at 1.44. He is up against Jules Kounde, who has won a foul in five of his last seven Barcelona games, including an enormous four in the first leg. Mbappe has now committed at least one foul in five of his last six PSG starts, and in each of his last five Champions League matches. At this price, he offers the best value of any PSG player to commit a single foul here.

4 20

Despite winning two or more fouls in nine straight games for Barcelona, and in 11 of his last 12 games for Xavi’s side, Lewandowski can be backed to make this ten in a row at 2.10. The Polish striker averages 1.97 fouls won per 90 in La Liga and won three fouls in the first leg. Young centre-back Lucas Beraldo commits 1.22 fouls per 90 and committed a side-high three fouls in the first leg, whilst his centre-back partner Marquinhos also committed one. With Barcelona having a lead to protect and using Lewandowski to hold the ball and relieve pressure, it seems a sure thing he will be fouled here, and his recent record suggests winning two or more fouls is much more likely than a price over evens suggests.
