Bournemouth vs Tottenham Stats and Bet Builder Tips Preview

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Stats and Bet Builder Tips Preview Featured Image

Bournemouth host Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium looking for their first victory of the season. New manager Andoni Iraola has caught the eye with some enterprising football and has completely changed the Cherries’ style of play.

Spurs are in the same boat with Ange Postecoglou taking over in the summer. The former Celtic boss picked up an excellent 2-0 victory vs Man United last week and will be looking to build on that result in this lunchtime kick-off.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Predicted lineups

Home team should stick with a 4-2-3-1 system

The Cherries have several injury problems. The likes of Marcus Tavernier, Dango Ouatarra and Ryan Fredericks are all out, in addition to new signings Alex Scott and Tyler Adams. Lewis Cook and Adam Smith are both doubtful and probably won’t start. Bournemouth should stick to their 4-2-3-1 formation with Dominic Solanke leading the line upfront.

Maddison is a key fitness doubt

James Maddison is doubtful with injury for Spurs. He limped off in the previous match but might still start. Giovani Lo Celso is waiting in the wings as a possible replacement. Pedro Porro will likely stay in the side at right back despite some competition from Emerson Royal. Spurs should otherwise be unchanged in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham team stats

Corners plentiful in Cherries fixtures

Bournemouth’s overall metrics are not that great so far though. They rank inside the bottom six for xG and have the fifth worst for xGA. It’s a small sample size though and playing Liverpool away is not easy. The Cherries won the corner battle 10-4 vs West Ham but lost it 10-2 last week at Anfield.

Spurs defence far from secure

Both of Spurs’ matches have contained several chances at both ends. They beat Man United 2-0 last week but still had an xGA of 2.45 and were fortunate not to concede a goal. Brentford netted a brace vs this defence on the opening weekend and there is a feeling of openness about Ange Postecoglou’s style. Both of their fixtures contained exactly nine corners which is on the low side. The wide players in this system cut inside and Spurs are not the sort of team who play for set pieces in that area of the pitch.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham players to watch

Solanke shooting selection

The main man for the Cherries upfront is Solanke and he already averages three shots per 90 minutes this season. Solanke is 1.53 to have three or more shots and this could be a consideration to add to your Bournemouth bet builder. He is 1.44 to have a shot on target and 3.25 to score anytime which is also tempting.

Philip top Billing for attempts

Under a new manager the Danish international looks more of an attacking threat. Billing only shot 38 times in 33 starts last season but has tried at least two efforts in both of his fixtures so far. Billing netted seven goals last season and can certainly finish well from time to time but is yet to hit the target this season. He is 1.91 for a shot on target here and 1.80 to have two or more shots, which is probably a more appealing part to add to any Bournemouth vs Tottenham bet builder.

Zabarnyi passing value

Bournemouth will be looking to progress into a more possession-based team this season. They had 63% of the ball in their first home match and 35% at Anfield. That figure is likely to be in between that mark this time around but don’t be surprised if they have the lion’s share of possession. Defender Illia Zabarnyi is 1.40 to have 50 or more passes. He racked up 69 passes against West Ham and 37 last week. That was a tough game away to Liverpool and he should improve on that number as Bournemouth look to build from the back.

Can Richarlison finally make his mark?

The expectation was that with Harry Kane out of the way, Richarlison would step up for Spurs in attack. He hasn’t been able to get into games yet though, only firing a couple of late shots vs Brentford and not even having a single attempt vs Man United. Richarlison is certainly a player to watch but whether he can be relied upon is a different matter. He is 1.25 to have one shot on target or more and 2.50 to score anytime. Both prices look quite short based on what we’ve seen in the first two games, but he could bounce back.

Kulusevski the main shooting threat?

The Swedish inverted winger averages 2.50 shots per game and seems to be enjoying life under a new manager. The shooting threat of Spurs seems to come from less likely sources this season with both Richarlison and Son not yet particularly prolific. Dejan Kulusevski attempted two shots vs Man United last week with both on target. He fired in three vs Brentford in week one but was less accurate. He can be inconsistent with his accuracy with only nine of his 41 shots testing the keeper last season. The best option to add to your Tottenham bet builder looks to be on him to have two or more shots at 1.30.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Matchups to watch

Destiny Udogie vs Antoine Semenyo

The new Spurs left back Destiny Udogie already averages 2.5 fouls per game and has gone into the referee’s book once. He was especially prolific last week racking up three fouls vs Man United and is a very attack-minded left back. His roaming runs forward could leave him vulnerable to Antoine Semenyo who has pace to burn. Udogie can be backed at 1.25 for at least one foul, which looks like a banker.

Milos Kerkez vs Dejan Kulusevski

Spurs have been focusing the play down the right hand side through Kulusevski so far this season which could mean a tiring match for Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez. He can be backed at 1.30 for a foul and it looks difficult to see how he can play a clean game here. Kulusevski can be a nightmare when he glides past defenders cutting inside.

Philip Billing vs Yves Bissouma

Spurs’ central midfielder Yves Bissouma looks in great form at the start of the season and has been a key cog in the wheel for the visitors. He’s been tough to handle and Man United fouled him three times last week when looking to cut off the initial supply line. The big clash in the middle looks to be Bissouma up against Philip Billing or Joe Rothwell. There are going to be several duels and both players will probably produce at least one foul each. Bissouma is as short as 1.14 for a foul which is no surprise.

Football icon Dominic Solanke 3+ shots

The main man upfront for Bournemouth should get plenty of opportunities to shoot here. Averages three shots per game this season and fired in 72 shots in 30 starts last year. He likes to have a regular crack at goal if given the chance.

Football icon Dejan Kulusevski 2+ shots
Arrow down

Averages 2.5 shots per game under Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have been focusing the play down his side of the field, leading to more shooting opportunities.

Football icon Destiny Udogie 1+ foul

Football icon Illia Zabarnyi 50+ passes
