Both clubs have been punching above their weight this term in the division’s upper reaches and a win for either later on would help to strengthen the victor’s pursuit of continental qualification. Fulham edged out their local rivals in a five-goal thriller when the sides last met in August, though the Bees will be intent on exacting some revenge today.

Predicted Lineups

Brentford have relatively few injury concerns ahead of this evening’s fixture with back-up goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha listed as their only current absentee. Defender Pontus Jansson and midfielder Frank Onyeka should be fit enough to rejoin the matchday squad.

Ivan Toney should spearhead the Bees’ attack as he awaits a possible hefty suspension from the FA to land in his inbox, while Vitaly Janelt, Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen will form a formidable trio in midfield.

4 2 3 1 22

Joao Palhinha picked up a suspension-triggering caution in Fulham’s last league game against Wolves and the Portuguese destroyer will sit out this evening’s contest as a result. With Tom Cairney nursing a foot problem, Serbian Sasa Lukic could earn a first start in midfield in Palhinha’s place.

Manor Solomon will hope that his goal-scoring heroics in recent weeks will have been enough to secure him a first-ever Premier League start on the flank, though Layvin Kurzawa and Neeksens Kebano have both been ruled out.

Team Stats

Brentford’s only defeat in their last nine assignments came in the form of a narrow 1-0 reverse at home to West Ham in the FA Cup and the Bees have enjoyed good results against Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal inside an eight-match unbeaten streak in the league since the end January.

Thomas Frank’s charges pass the eye test most weeks; however, Brentford have been out-performing their xG at both ends of the pitch by decent margins this term, and only Bournemouth have been conceding more shots per 90. The Bees are the division’s worst performers for shots on target against (5.52 p90), however.

Team Stats 27

Fulham hold just a four-point advantage over Brentford in the league table having played two games more than the Bees and the Cottagers also have the edge on their neighbours in pretty much every metric you can shake a stick at in 2022/23.

Marco Silva’s charges have scored one goal less than Brentford, though they have been posting stronger figures across the board elsewhere in the shots, shots on target, xG, corners for per 90 departments, as well as a myriad of defensive disciplines. Fulham have been collecting considerably more cards than the Bees, however, indeed, no club in the Premier League has picked up more of them so far.

Team Stats 28

Player Shots and Shots on Target

Ivan Toney, Brian Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa have been dovetailing brilliantly for Brentford this season and all three attackers have lodging strong numbers in the shots per 90 stakes.

26-year-old Toney is routinely the sharpest shooter however, and his accuracy has allowed him to clock at least two attempts on target in each of his last two Premier League run outs. Toney is priced at 10/11 to repeat that feat today. Christian Norgaard (0.60 SOT p/90) could be a decent alternative – the Danish midfielder had two strikes on target against Fulham in August and the 28-year-old is 13/10 to hit just one later on.

2 30

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been the king of consistency in the final third for Fulham this season and the lethal Serbian hit a whopping five shots on target when the Cottagers beat Brentford in August. The 28-year-old is 2/7 and 13/10 to at least one and at least two accurate attempts respectively this evening.

Israeli winger Manor Solomon has exploded in from the first-team fringes at Fulham since the turn of the year and the 23-year-old has had a least one attempt on target in six of his last eight appearances for the Cottagers. Soloman can be added to your docket at a tempting 6/5 to clatter one accurate strike on goal today.

2 31

Player Goals and Assists

Controversial frontman Ivan Toney is way out on his own as Brentford’s leading marksman this season with 14 goals and two of those strikes were dispatched inside his last five starts. Toney scored against Fulham in August and the 26-year-old is the option with the shortest price in the anytime scorer market today at 6/5.

Brian Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa have eight and six goal contributions respectively this season and they are priced at 11/10 and 6/5 to either score or assist today. Mbuemo – who has one goal and two assists in his last three Premier League starts has been in better form than Wissa of late.

3 29

Like Toney for Brentford, Aleksandar Mitrovic has been a prolific source of goals for Fulham this season, though the Serbian has only scored once in his last nine appearances for the Cottagers in league and cup. The 28-year-old did net the winner against the Bees back in August however, and Mitrovic still seems as likely as anyone to register anytime at 13/8 again today.

Manor Solomon is bidding to score for the fifth Fulham fixture on the spin today and the 23-year-old is a massive 5/1 to do just that. Elsewhere, leading creator Andreas Pereira has been collecting more cards than assists of late, which is something we can revisit further down.

3 30

Player passes

Brentford’s average possession per game figure for the campaign is 43%, though that drops a little when you isolate their home matches and they will be comfortable as counter-attackers on their own patch again today.

Experienced centre-half Ben Mee (45.9 passes p90), who orchestrates moves from the back, tends to see more of the ball than most, while Christian Norgaard (41.7) is the team’s chief conduit through midfield. Mee played more passes (54) than anyone else on the pitch when the Bees last played Fulham back in August.

6 29

Fulham’s most-potent passers are generally found in defensive positions and centre-halves Tim Ream (55.0 p/90) and Tosin Adarabioyo (46.1) along with left-back Antonee Robinson (43.2) have been among the Cottagers’ standouts.

Serbian schemer Sasa Lukic has been getting his foot on the ball when introduced from the bench and the 26-year-old could hit some interesting passing numbers if he is handed his first Premier League start today. Lukic hit 52.7 per 90 for Torino in Serie A before his January switch to Fulham.

6 30

Brentford Cards

Ivan Toney has collected more cards and committed more fouls than any other Brentford player this season and the 26-year-old will be determined to ruffle some Fulham feathers today. Toney is listed at 4/6 to finish this evening’s game with 2+ fouls or 11/4 to pick up another caution.

Aaron Hickey is a hard-hitter at right-back and the Scottish defender could be a useful coupon padder at 1/4 to commit 1+ fouls today. Similarly, Christian Norgaard could be an option to consider at the same price, though the Dane also fits the bill at 5/4 to commit 2+ fouls against Fulham. Norgaard was collared for fouls a game-high three times when the Bees last faced the Cottagers in August.

4 33

Both Fulham centre-halves, Tim Ream and Issa Diop could be knocked around by the aggressive Ivan Toney today, while streetwise winger Willian (fouled 1.11 times p/90) will hope to utilise his experience to draw Aaron Hickey into some awkward positions and scenarios.

In midfield, possible full-debutant Sasa Lukic should be given a suitably warm welcome to the Premier League by pressing and tackling machine Christian Norgaard. The foul count could climb quickly when those two collide.

Fulham Cards

With potent card-collecting machine Joao Palhinha watching on from the stands, his fellow Fulham midfield Andreas Pereira becomes candidate number one in the booking market for the Cottagers. The Brazilian has been cautioned four times in his last seven league starts and the 27-year-old is 13/10 to enter the referee’s notebook today.

On the flanks, full-backs Antonee Robinson and Kenny Tete should have their defensive nous thoroughly tested today. The pair have amassed 12 Premier League bookings between them this term, and Tete saw yellow when Fulham and Brentford last met in August.

4 34

Fleet-footed Brentford flanksmen, Brian Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa, have been fouled 27 times between them in the top tier this term, and the skillful wingers could have their ankles nipped by Fulham’s Robinson and Tete today. Robinson is of interest at 2/5 to commit 1+ fouls today, while Tete looks like a decent pick at 9/4 to pick up a card.

In midfield, Vitaly Janelt and Mathias Jensen, who have also been fouled 27 times combined in the Premier League this season, should have challenges from the fiery Andreas Pereira to absorb today.
