Burnley vs Norwich Bet Builder Tips, Preview

This feels somewhat like a cop out and it’s dangerous to always follow the form book but in Burnley’s case I can’t see them losing that Turf Moor record with so few games to go.

The draw to Derby is more disappointing on paper than in actuality, John Eustace having drastically raised the level at the Rams since his appointment- only sitting 2nd to Burnley across the last 6. I don’t think it’ll halt the momentum Parker’s team have gathered and unbeaten since the start of November it’s hard to look past them.

It’s 2 draws across their last 8 but those came against an Albion side who are creating a strong level of chances and the Derby result. This is the second long away day of the week for Norwich after their trip to Argyle on Saturday and I do feel that could take it’s toll whereas Burnley have had nearer trips.

They’ve let in just 5 home goals all season and I can’t see Norwich breaking that trend at this current moment.

By that same notion I’m also picking the Clarets to lead at half time. They’ve been in front at the break in 7 of their last 11 and have scored 13 first half goals in that period. It’s fair to say they’re quick starters.

After midweeks disappointment they’ll be hoping to put that right quickly and that’s something they’ve done so far this season, only Sunderland would have picked up more points based on the first half of games.

Norwich are equally poor in the first half of games particularly on their travels. They sit only above Argyle on first half points tallies and have been behind in 10 of their away matches at the interval.

Even when they’ve shown promise in the early stages they’ve failed to capitalise like against Bristol City and Plymouth and I can see that again here.

When Burnley have needed a talisman Anthony has stepped up in recent times. They were perhaps lacking individual flair in the first half of the campaign but the loanee winger has flourished ever since Marcus Edwards’ arrival on the opposite flank.

He’s contributed in every other games across their last 10 with 4 assists and 3 goals in that time. The switch to the left has certainly benefitted him, allowing him to drift infield onto his favoured right and up against Fisher or Stacey he could cause damage.

The Norwich RB takes up high positions seeking to allow Crnac inside however in transition this could leave Duffy exposed in the right channel. With Anthony’s pace he can hurt him.

With Burnley’s defensive record you may be surprised at the amount of shots they do allow.

They still boast the least SOT against p90 in the league at 2.15 but for a team who’ve conceded just 12 goals all season that’s still more than you might perhaps expect, with James Trafford playing a key role in that aspect.

Norwich equally are a side who do create their fair share of openings with 4.07 SOT p90 whilst Burnley are just shy of the 3.5 mark.

Norwich have only had less shots on target than their opponents in 2 of their last 8 whilst Burnley have only lost that battle in 17% of their most recent 12. There should be chances at both ends with Norwich’s pace countering Burnley’s desire for dominance, each team 2+ SOT at ¼.
