Chelsea vs PSG Preview and Betting Tips
The final of the Club World Cup has arrived, and it looks to be an exciting matchup to finish what has been a very entertaining tournament. PSG have looked incredible throughout this tournament, and a 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid has cemented them as the strong favourites. Chelsea may have had a favourable draw, but they have dealt with it relatively comfortably and will be hoping to offer a strong challenge to PSG here.

Chelsea vs PSG
We kick things off in the individual shot markets where flying Moroccan fullback – and Bad Man Betting favourite – Achraf Hakimi – offers eye-catching value in the 1+ shot on target bracket at even money (2.00).
Regular BMB readers will know that we’ve routinely backed Hakimi to deliver in this market over the past year and the 26-year-old has rarely let us down.
Hakimi starts at right back for PSG, but really, he is more of an auxiliary winger who spends games exploding forward into the opponent’s box.
Only Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (21) and Desire Doue (11) have had more shots in total than Hakimi (10) for PSG at the Club World Cup so far, while the defender also ranks third for total shots on target registered behind the same teammates.
This isn’t a summer fling for Hakimi, however – he was just as effective as a marauding force in the final third during PSG’s run to Champions League glory last term, averaging 2.10 shots and 0.89 shots on target per 90 minutes during the Parisiens’ surge to continental success.
Hakimi also played eight separate games against English clubs during that UCL campaign and he lodged a shot on target in six of those assignments, so back the Moroccan to threaten Chelsea at least once in New Jersey.
Luis Enrique’s PSG have had the ball on a string in the States and have been averaging 67% possession per game at the Club World Cup, so Chelsea should expect to have a hefty defensive workload at the MetLife Stadium.
The Blues will need to find a way to upset PSG’s passing rhythm and both their tackle and foul tallies are likely to be high in Sunday’s Final as a consequence.
Chelsea already rank first at the tournament for total fouls committed (85) and unsurprisingly, no-nonsense Argentine anchorman Enzo Fernandez has been leading the charge from an individual perspective.
The 24-year-old has been committing 2.20 fouls per 90 minutes in the USA, while his total foul haul of 11 puts him ahead of teammates Marc Cucurella (10) and Moises Caicedo (nine) in the shake-up.
Fernandez gave away four free kicks in one sitting against Fluminense in the semi-finals and his hot-headedness could land him in trouble again if he’s chasing shadows against PSG. Back Fernandez to commit 2+ fouls here.
Leaning on some of the same reasoning as above, we’re tipping Chelsea to earn at least two cards in their attempts to stop a rampant-looking PSG in Sunday’s Club World Cup Final.
This PSG team is brimming with skill and technique and the Parisiens’ quick feet have been drawing 2.83 cards per 90 minutes from opponents so far this summer.
We touched on it already, but Chelsea have committed more fouls (85) than any other team competing at the Club World Cup and that’s despite winning the possession battle in five of their six fixtures.
With PSG likely to control at least two thirds of the ball on Sunday, Chelsea’s foul count should be high enough to produce at least a couple of cards here.
The Blues picked up three yellow cards in two of their three knockout round fixtures and we wouldn’t be surprised if they accumulated even more bookings this time in their attempts to thwart the expert ball carriers in PSG’s ranks.
Nevertheless, we’re sticking with a modest card target for Chelsea, who are backed to collect over 1.5 cards for the fifth time in seven Club World Cup contests.
We complete our Club World Cup Final four-fold with a straight win forecast in the match result market, where PSG can be backed to triumph at a generous-looking price of 1.60.
Chelsea are surprise finalists in many ways and though the Blues’ push through the tournament has been impressive, they have been aided by a favourable run of opponents – especially when compared to PSG.
The Londoners did well to battle their way past Brazilian duo Palmeiras and Fluminense in the quarter and semifinals, however, Chelsea have only faced one European team in total at the Club World Cup so far, and on that occasion, they needed extra time to see off ten-man Benfica.
PSG meanwhile, have already beaten three of Europe’s best sides, toppling Atletico Madrid (4-0) in the group stage before sweeping past Bayern Munich (2-0) and Real Madrid (4-0) in the quarter and semi-finals.
Luis Enrique’s formidable French side didn’t concede a single goal in that trio of impressive showings and we expect the powerful French outfit to be firmly in the driving seat again against Chelsea.
PSG’s demolition job on Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid in the semi-finals was a particular head turner and the purring Parisiens, who are a class above Chelsea, should be difficult to stop again here.
