This is a huge clash at the top of the Eastern Conference. Columbus Crew vs Nashville
It’s been another blistering start to a campaign for MLS legend, Rossi. He’s already notched seven goals and three assists, following on from 12 and 12 last season.
He’s scored or assisted in each of his last four MLS outings and is absolutely vital to the Crew’s attacking output.
He’s averaged a huge 1.52 SoT/90 so far this season. He averages 3.33 shots/90, which shows how lethal he is, that means he’s hitting the target with nearly 46% of his shots. He’s landed 21 on target from 46 shots this season.
Despite The Crew falling to defeat against Charlotte last time out, Rossi gave it his all. He managed four shots on target that game.
Rossi netted the last time the sides met.
Few players could make Rossi’s shooting stats look average, with how good they are, but Hany Mukhtar may just do that.
The German is a master craftsman in MLS. He’s netted 71 times in this league since his arrival from Brondby back in 2020, not to mention the 53 assists he’s also provided in that time.
He’s adept from range, on both feet, and from set-plays; he’s the ideal package when it comes to backing shots on target.
Mukhtar has averaged a whopping 2.17 SoT/90 so far this season. Again, his success rate at hitting the target is astonishing. He’s managing that from 3.46 shots/90, so 62.7% of his shots are hitting the mark.
He’s had 1+ SoT in 13/15 games this season, in fact; he’s managed 2+ in 11/15.
He’s had 1+ SoT in each of his last 11, with 2+ landing in 10 of those. The value in 2+ does look very good, with PP offering 2.40 for that selection.
His last 5 games SoT numbers: 3, 4, 3, 4, 2.
I’m expecting goals here, so I’m happy to go heavy on the SoT picks. Next up is Englishman Sam Surridge.
Formerly of sides like Nottm Forest, Stoke and Bournemouth, Surridge has made a new home in Nashville.
He netted 12 times last season in his first full campaign and already has eight goals in 15 matches this season.
Surridge netted both goals in the win over Toronto last time out.
He’s averaged 1.26 SoT/90 during the current campaign, and leads the scoring charts for his side. He’s also the designated penalty taker, scoring three already this season.
Surridge has managed at least 1 SoT in 14/15 games this season. The only match he didn’t was the only time he played less than 72 minutes; as he played just 45.
He shouldn’t have any issues with minutes here so a SoT looks as solid a pick as they come.
This looks like a very decent price to me. Cheberko’s stats over the course of the season aren;t outrageous, but his recent uptake in fouls has been very high and this price feels more like one based off of an average rather than his recent ‘form’ in this market.
Cheberko has averaged 0.97 fouls/90 this season, but in his last four he’s committed eight fouls, he’s made three in each of his last two games.
The Ukranian is on the small side as a CB, at just 5”9, and that can be an issue for him. He struggled immensely to deal with the physicality of Patrick Agyemang, in the recent defeat to Charlotte.
Surridge isn’t as big as Agyemang, but he is a physical player who likes to get in the face of his centre back, and he draws plenty of fouls.
Surridge is impeded 1.69 times per 90 on average, and has drawn one or more fouls in 12 of his 15 appearances this season.
I like the angle for some single stakes here too. Cheberko has made 3+ in each of his last two, that selection is 10/1 alone! That’s worth a couple of quid. The 2+ line at 3/1 is also very nice.
