Arrow down

England’s opponents averaged 12.8 fouls per game through qualifying and the opening game. England have been fouled 11+ times in 7 of their last 9 competitive fixtures, and 10+ in 8 of their last 9.

Denmark have committed 8+ fouls in their last four competitive games, despite only facing Slovenia, Northern Ireland and San Marino, dominating possession throughout.

Football icon Jude Bellingham to have 1+ shots on target
Arrow down

Bellingham has had 1.00 shots on target per 90 across his five starts in qualifying and at these finals, and he scored the only goal of the opener against Serbia.

His shot accuracy is an incredibly impressive, 80%, making it highly likely any shots will end up at least forcing a save from the goalkeeper.

Football icon Jude Bellingham to be fouled 2+ times
Arrow down

Across his five starts in qualifying and at the Euros, Bellingham has won 3.50 fouls per 90, including winning four fouls on three occasions.

He is up against Morten Hjulmand and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who have committed 2.00 and 0.55 fouls per 90 in their qualifiers and opening Euros game combined.

Football icon Trent Alexander-Arnold to commit 1+ fouls
Arrow down

Alexander-Arnold has committed exactly 1.00 fouls per 90 in his 5 competitive starts for England in midfield, committing a foul in 3 of his last 4.

He is up against Hojbjerg, who has won 1.55 fouls per 90 for Denmark in qualifying and their opener against Slovenia.

England lead Group C after one game, overcoming Serbia 1-0 while their next opponents, Denmark drew 1-1 with Slovenia.

The Three Lions were somewhat underwhelming, playing well to start the game but ultimately fading and walking away fortunate to have held on to the three points against a well organised and occasionally threatening Serbia side.

Denmark looked extremely underwhelming against Slovenia, and though it is early days, any prospect of these two sides reaching another European Championship semi-final as they did three years ago look far-fetched unless serious improvements are made.

Denmark vs England Predicted Lineups

Denmark sticking to the plan

A draw in what was expected to be their easiest group stage game is far from ideal, but Kasper Hjulmand is not likely to deviate from his plan. Denmark will once again line up in a 3-4-1-2 shape, and no changes to the starting lineup are anticipated, with Alexander Bah still preferred to the star of the last Euros, Joakim Mæhle at right wing back, and Christian Norgaard unable to get in over Morten Hjulmand in central midfield.

Unchanged lineup expected from Southgate

As anticipated, Southgate went with Trent Alexander-Arnold and he looks set to continue with that decision here. Conor Gallagher and Kobbie Mainoo both saw action off the bench and could be considered for that central midfield role, while Luke Shaw still looks to be a way off returning, keeping Kieran Trippier in the side at left back. Marc Guehi played well in the game against Serbia and looks to have nailed down the spot next to John Stones at centre back, with Ezri Konsa on the outside looking in.

Denmark vs England Team Stats

Denmark look good for corners

The Danes took more corners in qualifying than any other side, racking up 8.20 per game on average, while conceding just two per game. Only Portugal took more corners in their opening group game, having 13 to Denmark’s nine. England, meanwhile, had just 4.50 corners per game in qualifying, and across their last five competitive games, have seen just 17 corners, at an average of just 3.4 per game. This includes six against both Malta and North Macedonia, with England having just one corner against Serbia in their opener and two each against Italy and Ukraine. All this means that backing Denmark on the corner markets, where they can be backed with a +1 handicap at 2.30 looks like excellent value.

Team Stats 2

England adept at drawing fouls

England’s opponents have committed 12.8 fouls per game on average across their qualifying campaign and the opening game of the tournament. Of these last nine competitive games for Gareth Southgate’s men, they have been fouled 11 or more times in seven, and 10 or more times in eight. Serbia committed a whopping 19 fouls last time out. Meanwhile, Denmark have committed eight or more fouls in each of their last four, despite their opposition being extremely low quality in Slovenia, Northern Ireland and San Marino. We expect their foul numbers to go up here, and it looks to be worth backing them to commit 11 or more fouls at 1.91.

Team Stats 3

Denmark vs England Shots and Shots on Target Stats

Jannik Vestergaard worth a punt

As explained above, Denmark look well placed to take a decent number of corners in this game, and Jannik Vestergaard looks to be a huge threat from these. The Leicester City man had two shots in the opening game against Slovenia, both of which were headed efforts from Christian Eriksen dead balls, and one of which was on target. Despite this obvious connection, the 6ft 6in Vestergaard sits at a ridiculous price of 2.88 to have a single shot here and looks well worth a punt going up against a relatively short English backline.

2 4

Hard to look past Jude Bellingham here

The Real Madrid star has hit a shot on target in three of the four qualifiers he started for England and slammed in the only goal of the game in the opener against Serbia. This works out to an impressive average of 1.00 shots on target, from just 1.25 shots (both per 90). Kane is likely to have limited space to operate in again thanks to the Danish back three, as he did against Serbia, but this should open up space for Bellingham to operate. England’s number 10 can be backed for a shot on target at 1.83 here, offering by far the best value of any of England’s front four. The data below is from the Euros campaign so a few figures are skewed by the small sample size.

2 5

Denmark vs England Goals and Assists Stats

Christian Eriksen the obvious option here

Christian Eriksen scored Denmark’s only goal in their opening game against Slovenia, and had four shots in the game, one of which was on target. The Man United midfielder has averaged 0.71 shots on target per 90 through qualifying and the opening game, and also poses an assist threat, with his dead balls leading directly to seven shots in their opening game of this tournament. Eriksen can be backed to score or assist at 4.0, a nice price for what looks to be the most likely Danish player to be involved in a goal here.

3 2

Harry Kane to get off the mark here

A sensational individual campaign at Bayern Munich may not have resulted in any trophies for Harry Kane, but it does leave him heading into the Euros in imperious goalscoring form. England’s captain has scored or assisted in six of his last seven games and was equally impressive throughout the qualifying campaign for this tournament, scoring or assisting in each of the seven starts he made. Three centre backs may limit his opportunities to score, but with so much attacking talent in behind him, Kane has every chance of getting an assist here if he cannot find the net. He can be backed to score or assist at 1.73 here.

3 3

Denmark Cards and Fouls Stats

Andreas Christensen a worthwhile option

Harry Kane won a game-high six fouls against Serbia, and his direct opponent is Barcelona and ex-Chelsea man Andreas Christensen. The Dane committed 0.62 fouls per 90 across the qualifiers and the opening game of this tournament and fouled in two of his last four competitive matches for his nation, including the 1-1 draw with Slovenia. Jordan Pickford often looks to go long to Kane when under pressure, which should mean plenty of tussles between these two, and likely at least one foul from Christensen, with Kane an expert at backing into defenders and winning fouls in these situations. Christensen can be backed to commit a foul at 1.67.

4 3

Jude Bellingham to pick up multiple fouls

Across his five competitive starts for England during the qualifiers and at this tournament, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham has picked up 3.50 fouls per 90. He has been fouled in four of those five games, winning at least two fouls in each of these four, and winning four fouls in three of these four, including last time out against Serbia. He is up against Morten Hjulmand in the middle, the combative Sporting midfielder who has fouled in both of his competitive national team starts and committed 2.00 fouls per 90 in his four competitive games for his country. All this means backing Bellingham to win two or more fouls at 1.83 looks a smart play here.

Denmark vs England Stats Pack

England Cards and Fouls Stats

Trent Alexander-Arnold a great option for a foul

Liverpool right back Alexander-Arnold is having to learn how to play in midfield on the job, and with his defensive work always having been a weak spot, it is no great surprise that he has been committing fouls at a high rate. Across his five competitive England starts in midfield, he has committed exactly 1.0 fouls per 90. He has also fouled in three of his last four, and is up against Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has won 1.55 fouls per 90 for Denmark in qualifying and at the Euros. Alexander-Arnold can be backed to commit another foul at 1.83, great value considering his record.

4 4

Alexander Bah looks a solid option here

Up against Phil Foden and Kieran Trippier, Alexander Bah looks a solid option to win a foul here. The wing-back has won fouls in each of his four starts for Denmark throughout qualifying and the finals themselves, winning two or more fouls in two of these four. The Benfica defender has won 1.75 fouls per 90 across his competitive starts for his national team and could easily pick up another in a battle against Phil Foden, who has fouled in three of his last five competitive appearances for his national side, while Kieran Trippier has committed two fouls in his last three starts. Bah can be backed to win a foul at a generous price of 1.36.
