Bristol City vs Swansea Preview
It’s been a far from impressive start to the season by Swansea having picked up just 1 point from a possible 9 in their first 3 games of the season. An opening day 2-1 defeat to Adam Armstrong’less Blackburn Rovers was followed by a 0-0 draw to Sheffield United and a 1-3 defeat vs Stoke City both in front of home fans.
One of the biggest changes at the Liberty Stadium over the summer was a change of managers as Steve Cooper left the club ‘after growing unsettled’ at the club. He led them to the playoffs in both of the last 2 seasons however was concerned about the direction of the club and the board replaced him with League One MK Dons manager Russell Martin.
That’s certainly a gamble for a club that have been on the brink of the Premier League for the past 2 years. Martin’s MK Dons could only finish an unimpressive 13th in League One last season and it looks increasingly unlikely that he can even match what Steve Coopers has achieved recently.
The Swans have lost last season’s top goal scorer Andre Ayew to Qatar side Al-Sadd. Ayew scored 17 league goals in 2020/21 and has been replaced by Wigan’s Kyle Joseph who is rated highly but at just 19-years-old has big shoes to fill.
Another big player from last season has departed as Defender Marc Guehi returned to parent club Chelsea in the summer after playing on loan at Swansea last season. He was then sold to Crystal Palace for a figure upwards of £20m which goes to show how big of a loss that has and will be.
As for Bristol City, they’ve had a better start to this season but certainly not an explosive one. A dramatic opening day 1-1 draw with Championship newcomers Blackpool was followed by a 2-1 defeat away to Niel Warnock’s Middlesbrough before finally claiming 3 points away to Reading with a 2-3 win.
Free agent signings of former Leicester midfielders Andy King and Matthew James have seemed to be great signings by Nigel Pearson who of course managed them both at the Foxes. King scored vs Middlesbrough whilst James assisted him and King also has an assist to his name vs Blackpool. Strikers Chris Martin and Andreas Weimann have been the main source for goals already this season scoring 2 each so far.
4 players there with a lot of good experience at this level and I think that will prove vital to Bristol City’s push to stay afloat this season.

Bristol City vs Swansea Betting Tips and Predictions
The bookies have priced this as a tough one to call with Bristol City at 2.63 and Swansea narrowly above at 2.7 but I actually think the hosts look good value here and I like the look of Bristol City draw no bet at 1.85.
I tipped Swansea to finish in the bottom half of my EFL Outright and had a fair few comments questioning it but look how it started, a measly 1 point from a possible 9. They’ve lost the manager that led them to a top 6 finish last season because he was concerned with the way the club were heading and have replaced him with a midtable League One manager. They’ve lost their top goalscorer from last season, best defender and replaced them with players just not as good.
I think the experience of the 4 I mentioned earlier, Andy King, Matthew James, Chris Martin and Andreas Weimann will be enough for Bristol City to get a positive result here and in front of their home fans.
You can get them each at 3.75 to score anytime. Markets aren’t up yet but it will be worth looking at each for a shot on target for them each if you’re building a bet builder.
