Man City vs Man United

Calendar 2nd October

I expect City to come out on top of this one but I’ve no doubt that this revitalized United side can cause them problems.

If United score it’s a bonus. However, City can of course cover this line easily on their own.

Some stats for this one; City games average 4.14 goals this season and all 7 of their matches so far have had over 1.5 goals.

As for United, their games have averaged 2.67 goals and they’re yet to have a match finish goalless.

4 of their 6 games have seen over 1.5 goals land and they’ve only failed to score once this season; which was in the 4-0 loss to Brentford.

City are an absolute juggernaut going forward. They’ve averaged an xG of 2.36 and who better for those chances to fall to than Erling Haaland.

United average an xG of 1.30 however that’s greatly hampered by their dreadful opening 2 matches.

Worryingly for them, their xGA is a massive 1.76 on average. Even when they beat Southampton they suffered 2.55 xGA and in the win against Liverpool it was 2.28.

City are an absolute machine for corners, particularly at home.

Overall they average 6.71 corners taken per game. At home that rises to 9.00.

They’ve earned 6 or more in all their home games. A reminder, we only need 3.
As for United, they average 3.67 corners taken per game.

Not the best average but they have hit the mark for 3 or more in 2/3 away games.

Their best chance here is using their pace, particularly in wide areas and looking to get in behind City, particularly on the counter. That should lend itself to opportunities to pick up corners.

City don’t pick up a lot of cards, due to their dominance in so many games. They receive an average of 0.71 cards per game.

They do have players who are prone to one though in the likes of Cancelo and Rodri. With United’s pace on the counter I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pull someone back.

It’s also a derby, so expect things to get heated. Especially with City needing a win to return to the summit.

As for United, they’re not a well behaved bunch, following on from last season the story hasn’t changed.

United average 3.33 cards for per game, which is massive. They’ve received at least 3 bookings in every Premier League game this season.

The way they play could entice City in too and make this game a real fight.

Players like Fernandes, McTominay, Dalot and so on will be flying in to tackles, hopefully we see City retaliate.

Michael Oliver takes charge, he’s dished out an average of 3.94 cards per game this season.

Leeds vs Aston Villa

Leeds have been one of the best entertainers in the league so far this season. Their matches have averaged 3.33 goals and 5/6 have had over 1.5 land.

Their gung-ho style has been maintained by Jesse Marsch. They average an xG of 1.24 and an xGA of 1.41. So chances shouldn’t be at a premium.

As for Villa. Their games have averaged 2.29 goals. 5/7 have seen over 1.5 land.
Both sides are yet to take part in a goalless draw this season.

Villa’s xGA of 1.48 will be of concern to Gerrard and Leeds can definitely expose that.

If Villa can get their frontmen firing they’re always a huge threat with so many talented forwards.

Leeds are a great pick for corners. They take an average of 5.67, at Elland Road that rises to 6.67 with their matches averaging 10.67 corners on home soil.

As for Villa, they take an average of 3.57 per game. They’ve hit the mark for 3 or more in 2/3 away matches.

Leeds so concede an average of 4 per game at home, so Villa should have opportunities to pick up the 3 we need.

These two both have great stats when it comes to betting on cards.

Leeds average 2.17 cards for per game and have had at least 1 booking in all but one of their matches so far this season.

If you’re looking for individual candidates, you could name the majority of their side, there’s a plethora of frequent offenders, Villa have also been in the bad books this season, collecting an average of 2.57 cards per game.

They’re yet to finish a match without a player being booked which is of course perfect for us.

Stuart Attwell is the referee for this one. He’s dished out 13 yellows and a red across his 4 PL games this season.

Besiktas vs Fenerbahce

Calendar 2nd October

Any derby match will catch my eye and this one, in particular, looks great for goals.

Fenerbachce are the top scorers in the Turkish Super Lig with 20 scored from their opening 6 matches, Besiktas are the 3rd highest scorers with 16 goals from their opening 7 matches.

Looking at averages, Fenerbahce matches average 4.33 goals per game, Besiktas 3.71 goals per game.

Besiktas have stuttered recently. After a run of three wins in a row, they’ve failed to win in their last two league matches – losing 1-0 at home to Istanbul Basakhsehir then drawing 2-2 away to Istanbulspor.

Fenerbahce are one point behind with a game in hand and on better form – they’ve won their last two league matches without conceding a single goal.

The away side will fancy their chances here, knowing that a win would leapfrog them above the hosts and into the top three.

On the xG front, Besiktas average 2.1 xG per game in the league, at home that increases to 2.38. Despite losing 1-0 to Basakhsehir in the most recent home match, Besiktas created more than enough chances to win the match, they had 20 shots, two on target and an xG of 2.86.

As for Fenerbahce, they average 2.41 xG in all competitions this season, 3.33 in the Turkey Super Lig. Away from home in all competitions, the average xG is 1.83.

Besiktas are another really strong side for corners, again, especially at home.
Their games average 9.14 corners, 10.00 when playing at home.

They take an average of 6.25 corners per game in front of their own fans and have had at least 5 corners in all of their home games so far this season.

As for Fenerbache, their matches average 8.6 corners.

They take an average of 5.33 per game, 5.00 when playing away from home.
A 23rd minute red card in their last away matches restricted them to just 2 corners but they racked up 8 in the game prior to that as they won 6-0 at Kasimpasa.

The Turkish league is notorious for tough tackles and hostile atmospheres, contributing to some of the fiercest derbies in world football.

Besiktas games average 5.86 cards per game. They’ve received an average of 3 per game.

The visitors games are seeing an average of 6 cards with them picking up 2.5 per game.

Volkan Bayarslan is in charge of this one, he’s dished out an average of 4.17 cards per game.

In the 2 meetings between these clubs last season there was a total of 7 cards int he first match and 9 in the second. This should be pretty chaotic.
