LASK vs Liverpool Stats and Bet Builder Tips Preview

LASK vs Liverpool Stats and Bet Builder Tips Preview Featured Image

Austrian outfit LASK welcome Liverpool to the Raiffeisen Arena for what will be a huge occasion for the hosts on Europa League matchday 1. For Liverpool, being in this Europa League competition is an obvious frustration, they want to be in the Champions League but are the bookies’ favourites to lift silverware at this level. Quite how seriously the Reds treat these matches remains to be seen, at least in the group stages. There is certainly an expectation that Jurgen Klopp will heavily rotate and give experience to certain younger players.

LASK vs Liverpool Predicted Lineups

Austrians with injury concerns

LASK are expected to line up in a 3-4-3 system which may well revert to a 5-4-1 when sitting deep. They have several long term casualties including the likes of Tobias Anselm, Yannis Letard and Adil Taoui who have ACL injuries. Winger Lenny Pintor is also a major doubt for this clash with new summer signing Ebrima Darboe lacking match fitness.

Jurgen Klopp expected to heavily rotate

Liverpool have a fairly clean bill of health with only Trent Alexander-Arnold a major injury doubt. He won’t be risked here but predicting the XI looks to be extremely difficult. The likes of Kostas Tsimikas should come into the side at left back with Joe Gomez continuing his right back role. In attack, several big guns such as Mo Salah may well be getting a rest as well. Teenager Ben Doak could get a rare start on the right wing, with perhaps Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota completing the attacking trio.

LASK vs Liverpool Team Stats

Overachievement in front of goal

LASK average two goals per game but have been overachieving their metrics with an xG average of only 1.01. They have kept things pretty secure, conceding only 0.60 goals per game. This will likely be a much more significant challenge though. They are not a free-shooting team, averaging less than ten efforts per game but over 40% of their attempts are on target. Both corners and card numbers are on the average side in LASK fixtures.

Team Stats 1 2

The Reds have been impressive in front of goal

Liverpool have been impressive in attack averaging 2.40 goals per game and they have a high xG to back up their legitimacy (2.05). At the other end of the field, one could say they’ve perhaps been fortunate not to concede more goals. Their average xGA per 90 of 1.18 has only resulted in 0.80 goals against so far, with Allison in particular making several impressive saves. He will likely not be starting this evening though. Opposing teams have averaged 13.20 shots per game vs the Reds which is quite a high number. Liverpool fixtures average over ten corners and four cards so far this season.

LASK vs Liverpool Players to Watch

Zulj to indulge?

The clear standout attacker for LASK has been striker Robert Zulj, who has already scored five goals this season and weighed in with four assists. He will have limited opportunities in a fixture like this, but LASK should have their moments on the break and from set pieces. Zulj is a massive 1.67 just to have two or more shots and is 4.20 to score anytime. He can still be backed at a decent 3.40 to score or assist which might be more sensible considering his dual threat.

Ziereis threat from set pieces

The second top scorer for LASK this season is experienced centre back Philipp Ziereis. The home side will have practised hard from set pieces ahead of this fixture and it may well give them their best chance of scoring a goal. The big 1.89 metre defender should fancy his chances of getting on the end of an opportunity, and for those who like a really big punt then he can be backed at 25/1 as an anytime scorer. A price which stands out is for Ziereis just to have one shot or more at 2.63.

Doak eager to soak in the occasion

With promising teenager Ben Doak predicted to start on the right wing, he must be classed as one to watch. Minutes for him off the Premier League bench will be fairly limited this season so he’s going to have to rely on cups and the Europa League to shine. He can be backed at 1.22 for two or more shots and 1.80 for three or more. We suspect the youngster might be over-eager to catch the eye which could lead towards him firing more wildly.

Jota the slotter

There’s a good chance that Diogo Jota will start either on the left wing or upfront. This is an ideal opportunity for him to kickstart his season and hit the back of the net at least once. Jota currently averages 1.80 shots per game in the Premier League, but his minutes have been inconsistent. He should play most of this clash and can be backed at 1.44 to have three or more shots. He’s a generous-looking 2.50 to score anytime and this should merit strong consideration for any Liverpool bet builder.

Elliott to shoot from distance

Harvey Elliott should see some significant game time in this clash and is a midfield runner worth looking out for. Last season he fired off 30 shots from 1700 minutes of Premier League action. He is not especially accurate and only bagged one goal so the best place to look is in the shots market. He is 1.30 to have two or more shots which looks like an acceptable price for any bet builder. That price rises to an odds-against 2.10 for three or more.

LASK vs Liverpool Matchups to Watch

Kostas Tsimikas vs Marin Ljubicic

Andy Robertson will surely be given a rest here propelling Greek international Tsimikas into the firing line. He’s very useful going forward and don’t rule him out from supplying an assist in this game. However, sometimes he can be caught up field defensively and could be vulnerable to a counter-attack. LASK’s right winger could be Croatian U21 starlet Marin Ljubicic who is expected to provide tough opposition.

Joe Gomez vs Elias Havel

With LASK likely to employ a 3-4-3 system it makes sense for them to target the wide areas, especially as Liverpool won’t be starting their best full backs. Joe Gomez played a clean match vs Wolves at the weekend but that was always a fixture he was likely to be more cautious in. With Liverpool being clear favourite, he might become more adventurous and be forced to track back quickly. LASK have another youngster on their other wing Elias Havel who has started the season strongly. Gomez is 1.73 to have one or more fouls which is big for any starting full back.

Florian Flecker vs Luis Diaz

Liverpool have a plethora of options to start on their left wing and either of them are likely to cause problems to LASK right wing back Florian Flecker. With youngster Ben Doak on the other flank it’s very possible Liverpool could target a higher percentage of their attacks down this side of the field, keeping Flecker very busy. He is 1.36 to have one or more fouls, which looks generous even if LASK sit back and doesn’t engage that much. This is a very tempting potential addition to your Liverpool bet builder.
