Joshua Kimmich has seamlessly transitioned from being a full back in the early part of his career to becoming one of the best central midfielders in the world in his mid to late 20s. The 28-year-old is very comfortable on the ball with a wide range of passing and has taken on greater leadership responsibilities for Bayern in recent years.
With two years left on his contract, a player of Kimmich’s quality will be on the radar of the biggest clubs in Europe, such is his ability, and without Champions League it is difficult to see the Reds competing financially for his signature if he is to move on this summer. Manchester City are a shorter price in the transfer odds, and it is difficult to justify choosing the Reds over a move to Manchester right now. Landing Kimmich would be a statement of intent and, depending on how they begin the season, they could become a more attractive destination in a matter of weeks.
Klopp is an admirer of Kimmich, according to the Mail, and the Bavarians may be willing to relinquish the German if it is to benefit their push to sign no. 1 target Harry Kane in this transfer window. If Klopp was not at the helm at Liverpool it seems unlikely that the odds would be as short as 6/1.
