Man City face Chelsea in the FA Cup for the second season in a row, and the third in four seasons.

Chelsea will be confident they can spring a surprise here, with the holders having been knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid on penalties on Wednesday, while they have been resting since Monday evening’s 6-0 demolition job at home to Everton.

City meanwhile are aiming to set up what could be a second consecutive final against cross-town rivals Man United, who face Coventry in the second semi-final on Sunday.

Whichever way this one shakes out, it is set to be a cracking contest and one that looks ripe for a bet. If you’re planning on creating a Man City vs Chelsea bet builder you can learn more about how to use our Stats Packs by checking out our Stats Pack Guide here.

Man City vs Chelsea Predicted Lineups

Man City to go strong after midweek disappointment

With five days until their next game in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola is expected to go strong here, with the majority of the side that faced Real Madrid anticipated to start again here. The only changes are likely to be cup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega coming in for Ederson, while Manuel Akanji, who asked to be substituted against Real Madrid should get some rest as John Stones returns to the side after a knock kept him out of the Real game in midweek.

Just one change expected from Chelsea

After a professional and devastating 6-0 win over Everton on Monday night, Mauricio Pochettino does have a minor headache to sort out thanks to Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke’s childish antics in demanding a chance to take Chelsea’s spot kick, awarded when the Blues were already 4-0 up. Jackson can count himself lucky that Chelsea’s striking options are limited, but Madueke looks set to pay the price. Enzo Fernandez should take his spot, and Cole Palmer will shift wide to accommodate Conor Gallagher centrally. Elsewhere we expect the side to remain the same, with all of Chelsea’s long-term absentees remaining out of contention to start.

Man City vs Chelsea Team Stats

Man City to dominate the corner battle

Man City have won the corner battle in 13 of their last 15 domestic fixtures. They had 12 corners to Chelsea’s one at the Etihad and have kept their opponents to low corner tallies in virtually all of their Premier League games this season, with their 3.47 corners conceded per game the second-lowest total in the division. City average the most corners of any Premier League side at 7.78 and look very well placed to win the corner battle here. City have hit eight or more corners in eight of their last 10 in all competitions, while Chelsea have hit seven or more corners just twice in their last six in all competitions. City can be backed to take the most corners at 1.40.

Team Stats 22

Expect goals at both ends here

Prior to their 6-0 win over Everton on Monday, Chelsea had seen both sides score in seven straight matches, including games against Burnley, Sheffield United and Championship sides Leicester and Leeds. They have seen both teams to score land in 12 of their last 14 games, the other exception being the EFL Cup final against Liverpool. Both sides have scored in both league games between these two sides this season, with the games finishing 4-4 and 1-1. City have seen both teams to score to land in five straight games, and in nine of their last 11 in all competitions, so all signs point to goals here. Both teams to score can be backed at 1.57.

Team Stats 23

Man City vs Chelsea Shots and Shots on Target Stats

De Bruyne to perform against his former side

Kevin De Bruyne offers nice value in the shots on target markets, where he can be backed to hit one against his former side at 1.62. The Belgian has hit a shot on target in four of his last five City starts and has hit 1.07 shots on target per 90 in the Premier League, the third-best amongst City players. Having taken three or more shots in each of his last three starts for City, and having two or more shots on target in each of his last three City starts also, De Bruyne looks well placed to continue this streak against a side he has historically enjoyed playing against.

2 23

Mudryk worth a punt at this price

Mykhailo Mudryk offers exceptional value at odds-against for a shot on target here. The Ukrainian has hit at least one shot on target in seven straight games for his club and his national side, and at 0.62 shots on target per 90, for someone who hits the third-most shots on target of any Chelsea player in the Premier League, he looks a bit of value. Having had at least two shots in all of those seven games, and three or more in four of seven, Mudryk will shoot if given the opportunity here, and available at 2.38 for a single shot on target he is certainly worth a punt.

2 24

Man City vs Chelsea Goals and Assists Stats

Phil Foden becoming City’s main man

Foden has scored four goals in his last three games for City, hitting a shot on target in five of his last seven. The 23-year-old has 14 Premier League goals this season and 22 in all competitions. He will not be afraid to take a shot on here, having at least two shots in six of his last seven City starts, and three or more in five of those seven. He already has two shots on target against Chelsea this season, taking three shots in both league fixtures. Despite this, he can be backed at 2.88 to score here.

3 23

Cole Palmer likely to be amongst the goals

With 29 goal involvements in the Premier League this season, Cole Palmer is obviously best-placed to provide Chelsea with a goal or an assist here. The ex-City man has extra motivation ahead of this one, and has already scored against City once this season, converting a last-minute penalty to make it 4-4 at Stamford Bridge. He has now scored or assisted in seven straight Chelsea starts, scoring 11 and assisting four in just those seven games, an average of over two goals or assists per game in this stretch. In this kind of form, backing anybody else simply doesn’t make sense, so look to Palmer to score or assist here at 2.88.

3 24

Man City Cards and Fouls Stats

Kyle Walker to commit a foul here

Kyle Walker is the standout option from a City perspective here, the full back has committed a foul in six of his last eight Premier League games. He commits 0.92 fouls per 90 in the Premier League, the fourth-highest foul rate of any City player. He will be tested by the pace of Mudryk, the Ukrainian international draws 1.63 fouls per 90 in the league, good enough for second-best in this Chelsea side. He has won fouls in four of his last five starts for Chelsea. Walker can, therefore, expect a tough test here, and he can be backed to commit a foul at 1.44.

4 23

Nice value on Moises Caicedo to win fouls

More known for committing fouls, Moises Caicedo also ranks highly on the fouls won chart for Chelsea, his 1.55 won per 90 in the Premier League is the third-highest amongst Chelsea players. Caicedo has won fouls in five of his last six in the Premier League and won two fouls at the Etihad earlier this season. His key matchups will be Rodri and De Bruyne, who rank first and second for fouls amongst this City side, committing 1.35 and 1.31 per 90 in the Premier League respectively. Caicedo looks good value to win a foul here, and he can be backed to do so at 1.36.

5 26

Chelsea Cards and Fouls Stats

Conor Gallagher impossible to ignore

Conor Gallagher has committed more fouls than any other Premier League player this season. The Englishman has been continuing to commit plenty lately too, with six of his last seven appearances in all competitions resulting in at least two fouls. He committed five and two fouls respectively in the two league fixtures between these sides, while in his direct matchup, Rodri wins the third-most fouls of any City player, at 1.12 per 90. He has won a foul in five of his last six starts in all competitions and won two and four fouls in the last two meetings of these sides. Gallagher therefore looks great value to commit two or more fouls at 1.53.

4 24

Bernardo Silva offers nice value to be fouled

Bernardo Silva goes somewhat under the radar in the fouls won market, despite his silky control often sucking defenders in and causing them to commit a foul. He draws 0.96 fouls per 90 in the Premier League, the fourth-highest average of any City player, and has now won a foul in five of his last seven games for City in all competitions, two of which came off the bench. He is likely to start on the right, putting him up against Cucurella. The Spaniard has committed a foul in nine of his last 10 Chelsea starts, the only exception being the 6-0 drubbing of Everton in which he barely had to defend. That makes Bernardo Silva to be fouled one or more times at 1.50 a very tempting prospect.
