Despite being widely hailed as one of Europe’s deadliest finishers, there is a big difference between doing it in Portugal’s Primeira Liga and doing it in the Premier League. However, Gyokeres was more than good enough for the Champions League last season, suggesting he should be well-equipped to handle the transition.

The £63.5m man has averaged an impressive 2.78 shots on target per 90 in his last 20 games for Arsenal and Sporting, testing the opposition goalkeeper at least twice in 14 of his 17 starts during this timeframe. He scored and had two shots on target in his Arsenal debut against Athletic Club last week, and whilst we can’t read too much into friendlies, it’s definitely still a positive indicator for this selection.

Much like Erling Haaland at Man City in 2023, if Gyokeres hits the ground running and starts scoring anywhere close to the rate he did in Portugal, his prices will crash rapidly. The early weeks of this season may be the best value we ever get out of the Sweden international, so now is the time to back him to go big.

Whilst we think Viktor Gyokeres will be the star of the show here, Man United’s new signings could certainly have something to say about that. Bryan Mbeumo is a proven Premier League winger, and having featured for Brentford in a similar role, he should take to the inside-right position that Ruben Amorim has signed him to play like a duck to water.

The Cameroon international had at least two shots in each of his last 6 Premier League starts for Brentford. Looking even further back, Mbeumo managed at least two shots in 9 of his last 10 league games for the Bees. He also managed two shots for former club Brentford in their 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Gtech Community Stadium on New Years’ Day.

Some may be concerned about the shot totals of fellow new signing Benjamin Sesko eating into Mbeumo’s opportunities, however, his former number 9, Yoane Wissa, actually averaged more shots per 90 than Sesko last season, and Mbeumo still managed 2.02 shots per 90.

Arsenal will pose a tough test, but the debutants will be keen to impress on their first home league start at Old Trafford, and it would be no surprise to see Mbeumo take on at least two shots.

Man United’s combative left-wing-back Patrick Dorgu is usually a strong choice in both the fouls committed and fouls won markets, and this game is no exception. The Denmark international has fouled at least once in 9 of his 11 Premier League starts for the Red Devils.

Across all competitive fixtures, Dorgu comes into this fixture having fouled in 10 of his last 11 starts across the Premier League and Europa League. He averaged 1.81 fouls per 90 in the Premier League last season, with only Manuel Ugarte fouling more times per 90 amongst regular starters for United.

He will be up against Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, who has won 0.82 fouls per 90 in the Premier League last season, and is also likely to be up against young left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, who won a whopping 3.07 fouls per 90 in the league in 2024/25. If Lewis-Skelly does feature, a foul from Dorgu looks all but certain, but even if not, the Dane still fouls frequently enough for us to feel very comfortable with this selection.

Mbeumo’s pace and counter-attacking ability makes him ideal for Ruben Amorim’s direct 3-4-2-1 formation, and a nightmare for opposition defenders coming up against him. Mbeumo will line up on the right-hand-side, which should put him up against Jurrien Timber at right-back.

Timber looked like a solid presence in the Arsenal backline after an injury-hit first campaign with the club, but he has definitely got a foul in him, which bodes well for this bet. Timber averaged 1.08 fouls per 90 in the Premier League last season, fouling at least once in 7 of his last 10 starts in the competition.

Mbeumo meanwhile, has won at least one foul in 7 of his last 10 starts in the Premier League, all whilst playing for a Brentford team that had the sixth-lowest average possession share in the league last season. Mbeumo saw just 50.47 touches per 90 last season, yet still won fouls more often than not, so even if Arsenal dominate possession, there is every chance that the 26-year-old can win at least one foul here.
