Leg 1: Over 2.5 Goals
Erik Ten Hag has been sacked as Man United manager and Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim will take charge during the international break. In the meantime, Rudd Van Nistelrooy took interim charge and he got off to a great start by beating Leicester 5-2 in the EFL Cup.
United have often been devoid of goals under Ten Hag but in this brief interim period we should expect to see the back of the net bulging. Man United players can play with more freedom but they’ll also want to impress the new upcoming manager and the shackles are off. This has the makings of an unpredictable game in terms of result, but over 2.5 goals looks to have a great chance of landing.
United look in the mood to vent their frustration of recent months and Chelsea tend to play in a very open fashion. Man United stats almost need to be forgotten now that Ten Hag has exited, but all of the last five Chelsea games have seen both teams score, with four of those going over 2.5 goals. This looks like a strong starting block for a bet builder.
Leg 2: Noussair Mazraoui To Commit 1+ Fouls
Of anyone having played significant minutes, only the injured Kobbie Mainoo averages more fouls per 90 minutes than Noussair Mazraoui (1.20) for Man United in the Premier League this season. The Moroccan international is a nailed on starter at left back for the Red Devils, even with the recent managerial departure. This could be quite a frantic match with plenty of end to end football.
His matchups are going to be Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke who are fouled at least once per game on average. Palmer is a total foul magnet drawing 2.30 fouls per 90 mins. The odds on Mazraoui just to commit one foul or more look a great value addition to any bet builder. He’s going to be right in the heart of the action facing some very elusive attacking players who have enjoyed fine campaigns so far.
Leg 3: Cole Palmer To Have 3+ Shots
This is an obvious selection but Cole Palmer is Chelsea’s biggest overall threat and should by default fire in at least three shots. He gets into some very dangerous positions, is Chelsea’s leading scorer and takes most of the key free kicks close to goal.
Palmer averages 3.20 shots per 90 mins in the Premier League this season and does not shy away when in a position to pull the trigger. Other markets to consider would be to score or assist and he should logically hit the target at least once as well. Because Palmer accumulates so many shots though then it makes sense to focus on the shots market for a nice bet builder addition.
Leg 4: Nicolas Jackson To Have 1+ Shots On Target
He endured plenty of teething problems in the Premier League last season but Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson has gradually found his feet at Stamford Bridge. He’s scored 6 times in 9 games this campaign and is clearly a man high on confidence after registering the opener against Newcastle last week.
Jackson certainly could be backed to score anytime again but the safer play would be to take him just to have one or more shots on target. Contrary to popular belief, the Chelsea forward is far more accurate than most think. 13 of his 22 shots have been on target in the Premier League this season and he had over a 50% accuracy rate from 80 shots last term. Jackson is well worth taking in a bet builder to hit the target at least once at Old Trafford.
