The Premier League title is now fully in the hands of Manchester City. They know if they win all of their remaining fixtures then they will be champions. City even have the luxury now of dropping some points and still taking the crown. They will be eager to put the hammer down against The Hammers this Wednesday night though. David Moyes’ West Ham still need the points in their battle against the drop.
Take a look through this Man City vs West Ham stats pack below before you place your bet builder. You’ll find stats for goals, shots, cards and many other metrics to assist you in the betting markets. Take a look at my Stats Pack Guide if you need any additional guidance on how to use the data.
Manchester City vs West Ham United Confirmed lineups
Kevin De Bruyne still a major doubt
City have such a big squad and we know that Pep Guardiola will rest and rotate as and when required. Predicting the Citizen’s XI is notoriously difficult at the best of times, especially this time of year. Pep revealed in his press conference that Nathan Ake is back in full training and could be in contention, but there are still serious doubts whether Kevin De Bruyne will feature.
Kurt Zouma likely out for the rest of the season
Central defender Kurt Zouma limped off injured vs Crystal Palace at the weekend and manager David Moyes said he will miss several weeks, which likely means the rest of the season. Moyes also revealed that some other unnamed players ‘picked up knocks’ but didn’t go into specifics. We know striker Gianluca Scamacca is a confirmed long term injury. With West Ham involved in a lot of matches recently then it’s possible there could be some changes to the XI.
Manchester City vs West Ham United team stats
City corners always a strong option
Man City average a massive 2.63 goals per game and only 0.94 against. These numbers are close to their xG and xGA metrics even if they are overachieving a bit in front of goal. City only concede an average of 2.0 SOT per game and have fired in a hefty 15.72 attempts per fixture.
Pep Guardiola’s men are a very clean unit and have obtained just 1.38 cards per game, whilst drawing 2.16 from their opponents. It’s very similar with the corner statistics. They rack up on average 6.67 corners and conceded just 2.32 which is an extremely low amount. City most corners or corner handicaps are something to consider in your Man City vs West Ham bet builder.
Lack of cards a theme in West Ham games
West Ham average 1.12 goals per game and have underachieved significantly compared to their xG of 1.32. Their xGA of 1.33 is very close to their goals conceded mark. The Hammers average similar shots for (12.30) and against (12.39). They have conceded a large proportion of shots on target though (4.18).
David Moyes’ men average 5.42 corners per game which is slightly on the high side. They’ve conceded 5.06 in each fixture and corners have been sizeable in West Ham games. Cards have been on the low side at just 2.66 on average. The Hammers themselves have been an extremely clean team and racked up just 1.24 cards per game.
Manchester City vs West Ham United player shots and shots on target stats
Strikers likely to fire in plenty of shots
A lot does depend on the lineup of course but Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez are both prime candidates to fire in shots. Game time and minutes must also be considered though in this scenario. The trio of Foden, Gundogan and Grealish all average around 2 shots per 90 mins and could be considered in this market.
Lack of accuracy a problem for The Hammers
The duo of Paqueta and Bowen both average around two shots per game but only around 25% accuracy, which is disappointing. Lack of accuracy and certainly a lack of SOTs is a big theme in this whole squad. Michail Antonio could lead the line but is unlikely to get many opportunities and could get replaced at some stage.
Manchester City vs West Ham United Player goals and assists stats
Alvarez to strike again?
Erling Haaland has been outrageously good this season and now has 34 goals. It’s worth noting that Alvarez has netted 8 times including two matches at the start of April and most recently a spectacular strike vs Fulham. He could be one to watch here. If De Bruyne doesn’t feature then someone needs to replace him as the main creative output, most likely Foden or Grealish who can be added to your Man City bet builder to assist anytime at 2.25 and 2.50 respectively.
Bowen could be the main threat
Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen lead the West Ham scoring charts, but only with five goals each. The simple fact is that the Hammers have lacked goals all season and nobody else really sticks out. Soucek, Antonio and Aguerd scored vs Palace so might be feeling more confident. Bowen and Benrahma lead the team with assists, but the Hammers have generally lacked playmakers all year. Bowen could be dangerous on the break here.
Manchester City vs West Ham Player passing Stats
Danger of players coming off early…
The Citizens average nearly 65% possession which is the most of any team in the Premier League. It can be a dangerous game taking City players in the passing markets though. If they are comfortably ahead and looking ahead to future matches, then anyone might get subbed off early. If Rodri and Dias last close to a full match, then they are worth looking at in the 90+ pass market for your bet builder but there is generally too much uncertainty.
Declan Rice was the only option
West Ham only average 41.70% possession and are known for sitting back and then counter-attacking under David Moyes. Midfielder Declan Rice is the obvious stand-out player for potential passes. He is the engine and heartbeat of the team and averages 55.7 passes per 90 mins which is pretty astounding considering the style and tactics of the team.
Manchester City Cards and Fouls stats
Rodri the most likely to go into the book
City are known to be a very clean team who pick up few cards. In midfield, Rodri stands out as someone who should get stuck in and can be added to your Man City bet builder for a card at 4.50. He has a decent foul average (1.54) and will sometimes need to break up play cynically. City will press from the front a fair bit so the likes of Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland are usually good for at least one foul.
Michail Antonio is a strong physical figure and can be a tough matchup for anyone. The battle between him and Ruben Dias could be worth considering. The Portuguese centre back does typically foul at least once per game. Paqueta will be on Rodri’s radar whilst City will have to keep an eye on Jarrod Bowen. He has a fairly high dribbling rate and can be a foul magnet. Perhaps Akanji or Grealish tracking back sometimes could be prone to a foul.

West Ham United Cards and Fouls stats
Coufal in for tough evening against Grealish
The London outfit have been quite a clean team this season. Declan Rice and Vladimir Coufal have five cards but nobody else has more than four. Paqueta averages 2.24 fouls per 90 mins, whilst Kehrer is another candidate for fouls. Declan Rice generally plays quite a clean game this season. For someone in his position to average just 0.64 fouls per 90 mins feels quite low.
A lot of course depends on who starts for City here, but all of their attackers are capable of causing huge problems. Jack Grealish is one of the most fouled players in the Premier League. He is elusive and has a lot of trickery. He has a knack of teasing players into fouling him and whoever plays right back for West Ham, probably Coufal is in for a tough evening. Your West Ham United bet builder could include him to have at least one foul, or even to be carded. Kehrer is another to consider here as he might have to face Haaland or Alvarez.
