North Macedonia v England Stats and Bet Builder Tips Preview

BMB Stats Pack Website Article 1 2

The final group match of qualifying sees Group C winners England travel to North Macedonia, who are now guaranteed to finish in fourth spot.

England’s journey to qualification has been typically seamless with six wins and one draw over their seven games, their most notable results coming in the form of a double over long-time rivals Italy and a 7-0 thumping of North Macedonia at Wembley. North Macedonia have endured a frustrating qualification campaign with defeats against Ukraine and Italy all but sealing their fate as the fourth team of five in the group. Still, they caused Ukraine and Italy problems on home turf and hope to do the same on Monday against the best of the lot.

Milevski could make changes

With qualification from the group no longer a possibility and fourth place guaranteed, Blagoja Milevski may choose to make some changes for their final group game with their half-time changes perhaps the biggest indicator. Jani Atansov, who scored both goals in the 5-2 loss, Milan Ristovski and Stefan Ashkovski were the men to bring about a potential comeback with Jovan Manev, Arijan Ademi and Bojan Miovski the men hauled off.

Southgate to go full-strength

Gareth Southgate was happy to give players an opportunity on Friday given the opposition and it didn’t work out well – Kyle Walker and Bukayo Saka had entered the pitch by halftime. Those two should return to a stronger starting XI with Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips returning in midfield. The main question is who starts on the left – Jack Grealish didn’t kick a ball vs Malta and may be the man

Cards galore in North Macedonia matches

One thing you can usually guarantee in a North Macedonia match is cards. They have collected at least one in every outing and two or more on six occasions. They are also excellent at drawing cards – each opponent has picked up two or more yellow cards, including England despite the 7-0 win. This happens because they are so good at drawing fouls – they have drawn at least 12 in every match they have played, including a whopping 23 against Ukraine during their 3-2 loss.

Team Stats 18

England extremely good defensively

England have played seven qualifying matches. Despite rarely having the quality of John Stones or a natural left-back available, they’ve conceded three goals and just six shots on target – and five of those came via European Championship holders Italy. The other came against Ukraine, meaning group whipping boys North Macedonia and Malta have failed to have a single shot on target against England. England aren’t bad going forward either, despite the woefully below-par display against Malta – they’ve had 43 shots on target in seven matches – just over six per game.

Team Stats 1 1

NORTH MACEDONIA vs ENGLAND players to watch

Bardhi could be villain of the piece

Enis Bardhi plays for Trabzonspor and is one of a number of North Macedonia players performing at a decent level as far as club career goes. It makes him a genuine threat to England and he has proven his quality during qualifying, scoring of assisting in four of his seven starts, including goals against Ukraine and Italy. Bardhi is the team’s penalty taker and with Marc Guehi inexperienced and Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips not up to full speed, he may get an opportunity to fire home from the spot too. You can back him to score or assist (he has three of those) at 11/2 in your North Macedonia vs England bet builder.

North Macedonia players need to TAKE Elif from Elmas’ book

England were utterly dominant against North Macedonia last time out but their display against Malta suggests the Eastern European outfit aren’t facing the same kind of opposition this time around. Elmas has done his best to be a positive influence for his nation, managing a shot in all six qualifying matches that weren’t against England and a shot on target in four of those – he can be backed at 1/4 to have a shot and 6/4 to hit the target.

Alioski Ezgj-an pain in the backside

A familiar face to Leeds United fans, Ezgjan Alioski is proving himself a real nuisance on the international stage. He has started all seven qualifiers for North Macedonia and has been fouled over three times per 90. He has been fouled in every start, twice or more in six outings and three times or more in four – he was fouled an incredible six times against Ukraine during a 3-2 loss. He was fouled once against England and it’s likely he’ll be fouled again.

Kane continues to lead by example

Harry Kane is England’s captain and record goalscorer. He’ll probably go on to break the international caps record too. He’s in the form of his life out in Germany with Bayern Munich and his England form is following suit. He has started all seven Euro Qualifiers for England and scored in six of them, including braces against North Macedonia and Italy, while assisting against Ukraine in the seventh. He has directly contributed a goal in his last 11 starts for England and can be backed to do so again at 3/10 in your North Macedonia vs England bet builder.

Saka getting Back-a to his best

It’s been a tough few weeks for Bukayo Saka, the Arsenal man missing the last international break due to injury but being thrust back into the Arsenal side without being 100%. His form suffered as he got over his knock but he appears to be in a better spot, scoring and assisting in the 2-0 win against Sevilla before contributing directly against Burnley and to the second against Malta on Friday night. It’s worth noting that Saka has had a shot on target in his last seven starts for England.

Maguire being caught out

Harry Maguire has seemingly re-established himself at Manchester United, ensuring questions about his England place remain unquestioned this time around. While his performances have generally been fine in an England shirt, his shortness of match fitness has perhaps played a part in him committing a foul in 14 of his last 17 starts. The outliers include an Iran side that barely ventured outside of their own half and Malta on Friday.

NORTH MACEDONIA vs ENGLAND matchups to watch

Ezgjan Alioski vs Bukayo Saka

The two most fouled players on the pitch line up against one another this Monday. Bukayo Saka is one of the best in the world right now and opponents are clearly paying him respect having been fouled 10 times in qualifying and 2.38 times per 90 in the Premier League. While he doesn’t commit many fouls for England, he’s not immune to it having committed 1.43 fouls per 90 for Arsenal this term – that could be important against Alioski, who has been fouled a whopping 3.04 times per game for North Macedonia in qualifying.

Kalvin Phillips vs Enis Bardhi

Kalvin Phillips is a little rusty given his lack of game time for Manchester City and it has shown in both of his competitive starts this season, committing three and two fouls in those matches for club and country. He’s up against Enis Bardhi, who was fouled in the reverse fixture against England and has been fouled four times in his last two starts for his country – Italy and Ukraine paid attention to the obvious danger man.

Harry Maguire vs Elif Elmas

Elif Elmas is the obvious dangerman for North Macedonia – anybody that plays for Napoli should automatically been seen as such when playing for a non-giant nation. Harry Maguire is going to be amongst those tasked with stopping him and the giant defender, as noted above, clearly enjoys exerting his physicality upon opponents. Elmas has been fouled in his last five outings in qualifying and there would be few surprises if he draws another here.
