Nottingham Forest vs Brentford Stats Pack, Bet Builder Tips and Predictions

Nottingham Forest and Brentford was formerly a clash of two sides hoping but, perhaps, not believing that they would be where they are now. Forest produced a great survival last year and have started this season in similarly strong fashion, beating Sheffield United and Chelsea while picking up a point against Burnley. Their only defeats have come against the might of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Brentford provide a different challenge – they aren’t one of the three worst sides in the league to date and aren’t members of the big six – they’re actually a place and point below their hosts this weekend. They started unbeaten in four but have since lost against Newcastle United, Everton and Arsenal, the latter in the EFL Cup.

Therefore, we have two sides looking for a first victory this side of the international break to further cement their status as Premier League clubs and it should be an enticing, physical encounter. There is plenty of opportunity to win some money out of it too, so be sure to continue down this page to find out who you should be including in your Nottingham Forest vs Brentford bet builder.

Nottingham FOREST VS BRENTFORD PREDICTED LINEUPS

Forest could introduce the wingers

When Forest hosted Burnley at the County Ground a couple of weeks back, they moved to a 4-2-3-1 system before reverting to 3-4-3 against Man City – for obvious reasons. They could move back to 4-2-3-1 here in order to get more attacking players on the pitch in front of a home crowd. That means dropping Nuno Tavares and Orel Mangala in order to get the lively Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi into the XI.

Frank forced to adapt

Thomas Frank’s ability to adapt is coming further into question. He has no Ivan Toney until January. He has no Rico Henry for the best part of 12 months now. Kevin Schade is out until Christmas. Leading centre-back Ben Mee has been missing. Aaron Hickey has shifted to left back. Keane Lewis-Potter is finally breaking into the XI. Nathan Collins has the chance to establish himself. New players – a new opportunity for your bet builder.

Nottingham FOREST VS BRENTFORD TEAM STATS

Cards the draw for Forest

Judging Forest on performance is difficult given the polarising level of opposition – they’ve only had ten shots more than twice, but both of those came against Burnley and Sheffield United. They also managed four shots on target in those games, matching that once – vs Man United. They’ve had more than three corner kicks on three occasions – vs Burnley, Sheffield United and Man City. One consistent thing is cards – they have picked up two or more cards in every game and three or more in four of their last five in all competitions while drawing three or more yellow cards in each of their last six in all competitions.

Busy Bees seeing plenty of shots

Shots could be an avenue in a Brentford game – they have conceded 10 or more shots in all but one of their league matches but also had 10 or more shots in every game. It’s a shame accuracy is so hit and miss for both them and their opposition. Corners could be an avenue for your bet builder – they have conceded four or more in five of their six games. However, cards may be the best angle again – Brentford have drawn two or more cards and 12 or more fouls in five of their six league outings.

NOttingham FOREST VS BRENTFORD SHOTS AND SHOTS ON TARGET stats

Willy strike again?

Willy Boly’s strike rate has been hit and miss since moving to England but he’s on fire this term. The centre-back has had a shot in four of his six outings and also found the target in each of those matches too. He’s available at 8/15 to pop up again on Sunday and 8/5 to have an effort on target. Morgan Gibbs-White could be a safer bet – he’s had two or more shots in four of his five league appearances and is available at 4/11 to repeat the feat.

Norgaard-ing against Brentford’s big Dane

Christian Norgaard is 1/4 to have a single shot at goal this weekend – the powerful Danish midfielder has attempted at least one in every game since the opening day. The other player to look at is striker Yoane Wissa – he has had two or more shots in six of his seven starts in all competitions and is available to repeat the trick at 4/11.

Nottingham FOREST VS BRENTFORD GOALS AND ASSISTS stats

Awoniyi having a huge impact

Taiwo Awoniyi is having the same impact on this Forest side that he had in the final weeks of last season. He has started all six league matches and provided a goal or assist in five of those, only failing to do so in the 2-0 defeat against Man City last weekend. He’s the obvious player to back to provide something for Forest this weekend and is available at 8/5 to score or assist anytime – decent for a player that has been involved in five of Forest’s seven league goals.

Bees front three the men to look at

Bryan Mbuemo has scored four goals this season and is Brentford’s penalty taker, so he’s the obvious man to back for the Bees – he is already at 4.4 xG for the season. His strike partner Yoane Wissa has two goals from 2.7 xG too and may fancy his chances of building on two early season goals. Keane Lewis-Potter is the other avenue – he is at 0.9 xG for the season to date and this could be a fine opportunity to open his account for the new season.

Nottingham FOREST CARDS AND FOULS stats

Ola Aina needs to be reigned in

Ola Aina has had a curious start at Forest, situated in various full-back and wing-back roles as he settles into life. It’s not particularly helped the ex-Chelsea youngster – he has picked up three yellow cards and committed a foul in four of his five league matches. That is perhaps putting some pressure on centre-back Willy Boly, who himself has committed a foul in five of six matches in all competitions.

Attacking duo to prove troublesome

It sounds as though Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo could cause some trouble. Mbuemo will be up against Aina on Sunday and has been fouled in four of his six outings so far, including twice in two of his last three appearances in the league. Wissa, meanwhile, was fouled in each of his first five league matches. Mathias Jensen is also worth keeping an eye on – the Dane has been fouled in four of his six league games – Ibrahim Sangare has a target.

BRENTFORD CARDS AND FOULS  stats

Hickey prone to sticky situations

Aaron Hickey is your typical Scottish full-back – excitable, fun and tenacious. The 21-year-old ex-Bologna man has picked up three yellow cards already this season having committed a foul in four of his six league outings. He’s not the only player to wind referees up – Mathias Jensen has committed a foul in every single league game while Yoane Wissa did so in his first five, the striker getting little chance to do so against an Everton side looking to play more directly.

eccentric elanga likely to be an issue

Hickey will have his sights on Anthony Elanga – the Swedish international was fouled over 1.5 times per 90 for Manchester United and is running at a similar level at Forest at present. As for Jensen, he will no doubt be focused on stopping Forest’s star man Morgan Gibbs-White – the England U21 Euro Championship winning captain has been fouled in every single league game played this season and twice in four of those.
