New QPR boss Neil Critchley fielded his troops in a 4-3-3 formation in his first two games in charge against Preston and Cardiff and that set-up allowed Rangers to extract four points from that pair of tricky tests.

Naturally then, Critchley won’t want to rock the boat too much in terms of personnel or shape this evening, though Moroccan playmaker Ilias Chair is available again following his World Cup exploits and will push to start.

Defender Gabriel Osho will sit this evening’s fixture out through suspension after he was sent off for two bookable offences against Norwich last time out. Amari’i Bell could slot in to replace Osho in Luton’s back three.

Cauley Woodrow nabbed the winner against the Canaries and his heroics off the bench could earn him a starting spot at Loftus Road ahead of either Carlton Morris or Elijah Adebayo.

Team Stats

QPR are the only team in the Championship with a net zero goal difference and the Hoops’ stats across a number of metrics, including shots, xG and corners have a pretty even look in both directions.

In Neil Critchley’s first two games at the helm against Preston and Cardiff respectively, Rangers lodged an impressive 27 shots to their opponents’ 21, while the six cards they collected along the way hints at a more aggressive approach under their new taskmaster. QPR to pick up over 1.5 cards at 4/6 (Paddy Power) could be one to consider with that in mind.

Team Stats 95

Only four clubs have scored fewer goals than Luton in the Championship this term, though the Hatters have been underperforming their xG by a decent amount.

Luton have been impressively robust from a defensive standpoint however, shipping just 1.09 goals per 90 minutes overall and just 12 goals in 11 fixtures on the road since the summer. Interestingly, only three clubs in the division have won more corners than Luton. The Hatters won nine of them when they last played QPR in October and they are available at an interesting 10/11 to win over 4.5 corners this evening.

Team Stats 96

Player Shots and Shots on Target

Chris Willock (4/6 to have three or more shots with Paddy Power) has enjoyed an impactful start to life under Neil Critchley and the 24-year-old managed to muster seven attempts despite playing only 151 out of 180 minutes against Preston and Cardiff.

Scottish international Lyndon Dykes registered at least one attempt in each of the same games, as did livewire fullback Ethan Laird, who could be an interesting addition to coupons at more palatable prices.

2 95

Regular substitute Luke Berry is best ignored today despite his strong numbers for the campaign and instead, regularly-picked attacking duo Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo deserve more attention. Morris and Adebayo hit six shots between them when Luton put QPR to the sword in October.

If you’re hunting for a slightly bigger price, then Jordan Clark might fit the bill. The midfielder clocked three attempts in his last two appearances from deeper positions and he was the only Luton player to hit a shot on target in their last away assignment at Middlesbrough. Clark is priced at 15/8 with Paddy Power to test the opposing keeper at least once again today.

2 96

Player Goals and Assists

Lyndon Dykes and Chris Willock are Rangers’ joint-top scorers in the Championship this season with six goals each, though neither player has broken his duck under Neil Critchley yet.

Willock (12/5 anytime goalscorer) mustered seven shots to Dyke’s three in QPR’s last two matches however, making him the likelier of the two to get off the mark first.

Stefan Johansen and Ilias Chair (11/4 anytime assist) rank joint-first for assists, though the latter is way out in front for shot-creating actions (118 to 33).

3 99

Carlton Morris is Luton’s leading marksman in the Championship, though the 27-year-old is in the midst of a lean patch and hasn’t scored in six appearances since netting against Sunderland in October.

Allan Campbell and Cauley Woodrow both opened their accounts for the campaign with their strikes against Norwich last time out.

Right-wing back James Bree (7/2 anytime assist) played five key passes against the Canaries and though the 25-year-old has only claimed two assists this season, he has more shot-creating-actions than any other Hatters player by some distance (91).

3 100

Player passes

QPR centre-backs Jake Clarke-Salter, Robert Dickie and Jimmy Dunne have been seeing plenty of the ball this season, though Dunne clocked a huge 81 passes in Rangers’ last game at Cardiff – a tally that suggests the Irishman could have greater distribution responsibilities under Neil Critchley.

You can nab Dunne at a tempting 4/7 (Paddy Power) to play over 50 passes this evening, which is something he’s done eight times in 16 Championship starts since the summer.

6 54

Only three clubs have lower average possession per game figures than Luton this season and the Hatters had just 34.7% of the ball in their last away fixture at Middlesbrough.

If you do fancy adding a Luton player from the passes market to your Bet Builder coupon, then it would be wise to aim for a low target. A lot of Luton’s play tends to flow through creative wing-back James Bree and the 25-year-old could fit the bill at 4/6 to hit 30 or more passes this evening.

6 55

QPR Cards

Sam Field (5/2) has collected more bookings than any other QPR player this term and though he avoided yellow in each of Rangers’ first two games under Neil Critchley, the hard-hitting anchorman did rack up a bone-crunching ten tackles.

Beside Field, Tim Iroegbunam (9/5) is another interesting candidate in the card market. The 19-year-old has been cautioned four times already this term, and like Field, he committed two fouls in the Hoops’ last game against Cardiff.

Old-fashioned number nine Lydon Dykes (4/1) likes to throw his weight around at centre-forward and he collected his latest card as recently on December 17th at Preston.

4 95

Jordan Clark and Jordan Campbell could be in for a bruising session at Loftus Road this evening when they face combative QPR pair Sam Field and Tim Iroegbunam in midfield, so keep a close eye on the scuffles in that area.

Centre-back Tom Lockyer – who has been Luton’s most-fouled player per 90 in 2022/23 – will also have to prepare himself for a physical battle against Hoops frontman, Lyndon Dykes.

Luton Cards

Carlton Morris (7/2) offers Luton a physical presence up front and can be a real handful for defenders. The 27-year-old has already been carded five times in the Championship and only Amari’i Bell has committed more fouls overall.

Bell (9/2), who has just returned from a ban that was earned by his recent dismissal against Middlesbrough, ranks top for total fouls committed (35) at Luton this term and he is worth tracking on his possible return to the XI today where he could face in-form Chris Willock.

Alfie Doughty (2.24 fouls p/90, four cards) might have some dirty work to get through in midfield for Luton against some tough-tackling QPR counterparts.

4 96

Chris Willock (fouled 1.32 times p/90) has been offering plenty of threat from the left flank for QPR of late and the increasingly influential 24-year-old could be targeted for some special treatment from foul-merchant Amari’i Bell this evening.

Jimmy Dunne doesn’t appear on our list, though he is QPR’s most-fouled centre-half this season and he goes head-to-head with the brawny Carlton Morris today. Tim Iroegbunam collects his share of lumps in midfield and he could be introduced to Alfie Doughy’s studs in central areas later on.
