Real Madrid host Barcelona for the 257th edition of what is arguably football’s most famous rivalry, El Clasico.

Real Madrid come into this on blistering form, they have lost only once this La Liga campaign and that dates back to the 24th of September. Alongside their domestic form, they will be on a high after eliminating Manchester City from the Champions League on Wednesday night. Everything is shaping up excellently for Real Madrid this season and a victory here would give them an 11-point lead over Barcelona with only six games remaining.

Barcelona will be absolutely desperate for a result against their rivals here, something they have failed to do in their last 3 meetings. Only a win here would give Barcelona a chance at any kind of silverware this season. Knocked out of the Champions League after a capitulation against PSG on Tuesday, convincingly beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid in the Supercopa final and knocked out of the Copa Del Rey in the quarterfinals. They currently sit eight points adrift in the title race and have an opportunity to put the pressure on Real Madrid should they beat them here.

El Clasico is always a cracking game to watch and is usually just as good for a bet. Luckily, we’ve done the hard work for you ahead of this one, read on below as we break down our favourite selections and highlight potential avenues for a bet in a variety of markets. Real Madrid vs Barcelona Predicted lineups

Vinicius and Carvajal out for the hosts

Real Madrid may have picked up a huge result in midweek, however, it came at a significant cost. Vinicius Junior picked up a muscular injury against Man City and is expected to be out until early May, he will likely be replaced by Joselu for this one. Dani Carvajal played 110 minutes on Wednesday before being taken off with a hamstring injury, something that puts him on the sidelines for this one, Lucas Vazquez will take his spot at right back here.

Carlo Ancelotti will stick to his favoured 4-3-1-2 formation with the only other expected changes being Aurelien Tchouameni and Eder Militao entering the starting 11 with Toni Kroos and Nacho making way.

Barcelona unlikely to change much here

Despite a disappointing result for Barcelona, Xavi looks poised to only make a singular change from midweek here with Joao Felix to replace Lamine Yamal, who was taken off in the 34th-minute on Tuesday as a result of Ronald Araujo’s sending off. Gavi and Alejandro Balde remain unavailable after being ruled out for the season. Barcelona are likely to operate in a 4-3-3 formation again here.

Real Madrid vs Man City team stats

Real’s unbeaten streak is backed up by their metrics

Real Madrid have not lost a home fixture in any competition since the 8th of April 2023 and have lost just once in the league all season. Their metrics illustrate exactly why this has been the case, they average 6.29 shots on target a game while conceding only 2.74, and create 1.86 xG while having an xGA which remains below one (0.90). They lead the league in both clean sheets (16) and goals per match (2.2). They are relatively well disciplined as well, receiving 1.97 cards per game which is the 3rd-lowest in the league.

Team Stats 26

Corners a strength for Barcelona

Barcelona are La Liga’s corner kings, they lead the league on the corner front averaging six corners won per game. This can be attributed in part to their shot-taking tendencies, they average a significant 15.39 shots per game. They can be backed to take over 2.5 corners here at 1.29, which appears very manageable. Barcelona games do see their fair share of cards, with Barcelona averaging 2.42 cards per game whilst drawing 3.06. Barcelona’s last five matches in all competitions have seen over 4.5 match cards land, with over 5.5 match cards landing in four of their last five. Over 5.5 cards seems to be the value pick here at 1.53.

Team Stats 27

Real Madrid vs Barcelona shots and shots on target stats

Rodrygo emerges as Los blancos’ most consistent threat

Rodrygo is on fire at the moment, scoring crucial goals in both legs of the Champions League. However, it’s the shots on target market in which he truly stands out, he has had two or more shots on target in all of his last five starts and averages 1.37 across the season. He can be backed at 1.36 to have one or more shots on target and for those looking for a higher odds selection for their Bet Builder he is available at 2.80 to have two or more shots on target. Tchouameni could be an outside pick to have one or more shots. He averages 1.25 per 90 and has had at least one shot in his last three league starts.

2 27

Raphinha has found his shooting boots

Raphinha has been on great shooting form as of late. He averages a healthy 1.44 shots on target per 90 and has had one or more shots on target in four of his last five starts. He looks to be a solid option for a Bet Builder, where he can be added to have one or more shots on target at 1.73. Robert Lewandowski is of course a strong option, he has had one or more shots on target in his last five starts. An alternative angle is Ilkay Gundogan to have at least one shot, something he has done in four of his last five starts as fits his seasonal average of 1.25 per 90.

2 28

Real Madrid vs Barcelona goals and assists stats

Bellingham looking to repeat past El Clasico feat

Jude Bellingham is La Liga’s second top scorer with 16 goals and with Vinicius out he stands significantly ahead as Real Madrid’s top scorer. He scored twice on his El Clasico debut and managed an assist in the Supercopa final back in January, he is priced at 1.91 to score or assist here. Rodrygo of course deserves another mention here, having scored four in his last three appearances for Real Madrid.

3 27

Joao Felix could be worth a punt

Scoring at all may prove to be a tough feat for Barcelona here, however, Felix’s league form could make him a strong value pick here. He has found the back of the net in both of his last two league starts, with four of his seven league goals this season coming in his last eight league games. He looks like a good pick for those aiming for a larger odds Bet Builder, priced at 4.33. Looking elsewhere, Lewandowski leads Barcelona with 13 goals yet the anytime assist market could make for a strong longshot bet as he has picked up eight assists in the league this season and has three assists in his last three league appearances, he is available at a massive 8.0 to assist anytime.

3 28

Real Madrid cards and fouls stats

Mendy may be the way to go

Real Madrid rank 20th in fouls committed per game, committing an average of 9.8 per game. Therefore, this market may be a tricky one to navigate as fouling odds are lowered due to the nature of the fixture. However, Ferland Mendy has been on a significant fouling streak as of late, committing a foul in every one of his last five starts in all competitions. He averages just shy of one foul per 90, at 0.94 but could still remain the pick of the pack here given his price of 1.30. Federico Valverde may not rank particularly highly here for fouls per game at 0.57 yet is one to keep an eye on as he has committed a foul in nine consecutive starts in all competitions, especially as he can be added to your Bet Builder at 1.67 for one or more fouls.

4 28

Lewandowski has been causing centre halves a real headache as of late, he averages 1.97 fouls drawn per 90 and has been fouled at least twice in 10 consecutive appearances. He appears a very usable option to draw two or more fouls here at 2.0 and could definitely be considered to draw three or more at 4.0 for those looking for higher odds. The case for Mendy to commit a foul is furthered by the fact he will go up against Felix who draws 3.14 fouls per 90.

5 30

Barcelona Cards and Fouls Stats

Cancelo providing a degree of consistency on the fouls front

Joao Cancelo emerges as a strong candidate for a foul here, his seasonal average sits at 1.33 per game and will be faced with a daunting matchup of Rodrygo and Vazquez down the left-hand side who average over three fouls drawn per 90 combined (1.71 and 1.52). The value here rests solely in the two or more fouls market, where he is available at 1.73.  Pau Cubarsi is someone who may stand out as a strong option, he averages just short of one foul per 90 (0.90) and is likely to be significantly tested by Bellingham here. He is priced at 1.50 to commit one or more fouls.

4 29

Jude Bellingham draws a significant number of fouls, at just over three per game and will be likely to draw a couple here. Especially If he occupies a slightly more advanced role than we saw him in during that defensive performance in Manchester, he will aim to put Barcelona’s young central defenders under pressure, who average 1.27 and 0.90 fouls per 90 respectively. He is available at 1.25 to draw two or more fouls in this fixture.
