Tottenham vs AZ Preview and Betting Tips
Tottenham enter this second leg tie on the backfoot here, trailing 1-0 following a very disappointing display away last week. AZ will definitely sense an opportunity to pull of an upset in this tie if they can hold their 1-0 advantage and any optimism they may be feeling could well be justified given Tottenham’s inconsistency this season. All things considered, this tie is still up for grabs and it looks primed for Bet Builder.

Tottenham vs AZ
This tie looks wonderfully set up for both teams to score with Tottenham knowing they have to do that and Alkmaar in all likelihood needing to do so if they are going to progress in this tie.
Tottenham are going to need to play a lot better than they did in Holland last week but you would think that will come naturally at home, but they have already beaten Alkmaar here this term in the league phase of this competition which should help confidence. Tottenham have scored in every home game in the Europa League so far and it is hard to see that run not continuing here.
Since they failed to score here earlier in the competition, Alkmaar have scored twice in each away game in the Europa League and could easily have had more than the one they scored last week having accrued an xG of 1.61.
With Spurs having to go for it here and Alkmaar dangerous going forward this feels like a good opportunity for both teams to find the net.
Although AZ Alkmaar lead the tie, it is only 1-0 and so Tottenham will be confident that they can turn the tie on its head back in London.
Spurs have already beaten their Dutch opponents here this season and everyone involved with the club will know that this is the last competitive interest in their season so the hosts should be giving it their all here.
Alkmaar won’t roll over and go easily but this is a side who have conceded 11 in their last five away from home.
Tottenham are a short order to win the game, which is probably right because Alkmaar can progress with a draw but in front of a packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a Spurs side who are 3-1-0 at home in this competition this season can progress even if extra time or penalties is needed.
The chief man most likely to get the better of Alkmaar from a Spurs persuasion is their captain Son Heung-min, scorer of the equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
That was his 14th goal of the season in all competitions, three of which have come in this one.
He averages 1.31 shots on target per 90 minutes in this competition so we can expect him to get a shot at goal away and he averages a nudge over a goal every other game so having not scored in the first leg he’s due to notch here.
Spurs will be on the front foot in this match and as their senior man their captain, who had three shots in the first leg, should be taken to fire his side back into the tie.
Lucas Bergvall might feel as though he has got a point to prove as it is his own goal from the first leg which separates the two sides going into this second leg.
The Swedish teenager is likely to have a combative role in this match because there is no Rodrigo Bentancur due to suspension.
Bergvall averages 1.71 fouls committed per 90 minutes in this competition and when you factor in the balance of the tie and the need for Spurs to win the ball back quickly it won’t take a lot for the midfielder to commit a foul.
He committed a foul in the first leg last week and looks a good option to commit another given the way the tie is poised.
