Tottenham vs Man United Card Tips, Predictions

We will put together the first of our card doubles for the Europa League final with two reliable card magnets in the centre of what could be quite a competitive midfield over in Bilbao.

The first contender is the Manchester United enforcer Manuel Ugarte, a player who is certainly no stranger to seeing a yellow card.

He has two of them in the Europa League this season, although he is only averaging 64.8 minutes per match in it. In a final you would have to think that a regular midfielder is going to see more of the action.

In the Premier League, the Uruguayan has 11 yellow cards. In many ways, that isn’t a surprise as United are often exposed in the centre of the pitch with their two midfielders up against three.

The other reason why it isn’t a surprise is he averages 2.1 fouls per 90 minutes in the Premier League and most of his tackles are quite aggressive. With all the marbles on the line here he looks a prime card candidate.

We will double up Ugarte with his Uruguayan international colleague Rodrigo Bentancur, another player who is no stranger to being booked this season.

Bentancur has been shown four yellow cards in the Europa League this term and he has also notched up another eight in the Premier League and while this is a European final, there is a good chance this will be played like a Premier League match.

There is no James Maddison or Lucas Bergvall for this final so Bentancur could see longer minutes than he normally would, especially with the final game of the Premier League campaign meaning nothing to Tottenham.

Bentancur leads the average fouls per 90 statistic for Tottenham in the Premier League this term with 1.8 and in a midfield which has to be competitive given what is at stake for both sides, it would be no surprise were he to find his way into the book in what could be a feisty contest.

Double the two Uruguayans up for a solid looking punt at just under 11/2.

The second card double for the Europa League final will see us look at the way the game could play out and the protagonists who might be under the most pressure.

That leads us to the two Manchester United wing-backs or wider defenders if you like, the first of which will be the Moroccan player Noussair Mazraoui.

He seems to have a bit of a dislike for Tottenham because two of his six yellow cards in all competitions this season have come against the Ange Postecoglou coached side.

He was booked in the league game between the two at Old Trafford and then again when the pair met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Carabao Cup.

The only match between the two this season that the Moroccan wasn’t booked in was the league game in London in February but having committed three fouls in the match he was dicing with death in that regard then too.

There is something in the way Spurs attack his side of the United defence that brings fouls out of Mazraoui and one too many could easily see him find his way into the book once again.

It looks as though Ruben Amorim will utilise the services of Patrick Dorgu at left wing-back and the Dane could be in for a tough night at the office.

His tackling could be described as reckless at the best of times and having to potentially deal with Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro or Djed Spence down his side he is going to need to get through plenty of defensive work and could easily get a tackle wrong as he is attacked with pace.

Dorgu has already seen a card against Tottenham this season when he was booked in the most recent meeting between the two sides at Tottenham.

Dorgu is only 20 and still in the infancy of his career. This will be by far the biggest match he has ever played in and it wouldn’t be a shock if the occasion gets the better of him and he flies into a tackle he shouldn’t do.

He looks to have the ideal direct opponents to pick a card up against so doubling him with his defensive colleague gives us a nice looking 10/1 bet.
