An under-pressure Arsenal travel to Wolves to try and re-ignite their Premier League title challenge. It has been a poor week for the North London outfit as they lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa last week before getting knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

Wolves are in mid table and don’t appear to have that much to play for. However, they have been embroiled in some intense matches vs Arsenal in recent years and would love to land a blow on the Gunners.

Wolves vs Arsenal PREDICTED LINEUPS

Ait Nouri closing in on a return

Pedro Neto remains injured for Wolves and the big question mark must come at the left wing back slot where either Matt Doherty or Rayan Ait Nouri will feature. The latter has been nursing an injury but is believed to be close to a return. Manager Gary O’Neil will likely stick with his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation with Matheus Cunha leading the line in attack.

Odegaard and Saka are doubts for Arsenal

Arsenal have endured a brutal recent schedule and there is a chance of some rotation here. But with the Premier League title on the line, manager Mikel Arteta might not be able to afford the luxury of resting players too much. Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have been struggling recently with the latter unable to even complete the match vs Bayern in midweek. However, both are talismanic figures and will probably start.

Wolves vs Arsenal TEAM STATS

Corner count low for the hosts

From a data perspective, there is nothing particularly remarkable about Wolves. Their goals scored and conceded stats correlate very strongly to their underlying metrics which are ultimately on the mediocre side. Due to their more narrow nature and inverted wingers or full backs, their corner count is low. Cards are very high in Wolves fixtures with the West Midlands outfit racking up nearly three per game but also drawing plenty from their opponents.

Team Stats 24

Gunners defensive metrics are rock solid

Arsenal’s numbers are immense. Their most impressive stats are at the back where their xGA of 0.69 is absolutely rock solid. The Gunners have conceded just 2.16 shots on target per contest which is extraordinarily low. Corners are very high in Arsenal fixtures with cards on the low side.

Team Stats 25

Wolves vs Arsenal SHOTS AND SHOTS ON TARGET

Two standouts to cause Arsenal issues

Two key men stand out in the shooting capacity for Wolves and they are striker Matheus Cunha and attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia. Cunha averages nearly three shots per 90 with Sarabia hovering around the 2.50 range. Cunha is priced at 1.53 to have two or more attempts here which looks big for any starting striker in the Premier League. Sarabia is even bigger at 1.73 and either of these players could be considered as an addition to your Wolves bet builder.

2 25

Saka to bounce back here

Bukayo Saka to have one or more shots on target could be worth adding to your Arsenal bet builder especially as he is on penalty duty. Arsenal have lacked accuracy this season though and players such as Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli are perhaps better off being considered in the shots market rather than on target.

Wolves vs Arsenal GOALS AND ASSISTS Stats

Pablo price offers interest

The home team remain without their biggest assist provider in Pedro Neto but still have some big weapons on the field that merit respect. Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan have both netted double-digit goals this season while Pablo Sarabia is a dual threat for goals and assists with him on penalty duty. In the ‘to score or assist market’ Cunha is priced at 3.60 and Sarabia as big as 4.0 which could be worth consideration.

3 25

Saka is still the main man

Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s biggest threat both in terms of goalscoring but also assisting. He should be on penalty-taking duty which adds to his threat. The England attacker is priced at 1.80 in the ‘to score or assist’ market which is usually the safest option with him. Kai Havertz could be considered in the same market at 2.0.

3 26

Wolves CARDS AND FOULS STATS

Wolves’ disciplinary record is extremely poor

Gary O’Neil’s men are one of the dirtiest teams in the Premier League and racked up a massive 85 cards this season which is nearly three per game. They average the second-most fouls per game of any team in the league (13.30). There are some serial offenders in this team with the trio of Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes and Nelson Semedo all known for racking up significant fouls and cards. At least eight players average one foul per 90 or more in the Premier League with as many as 14 at a 0.80 rate. You could make a case for every player to produce at least one foul here.

4 25

Arsenal have drawn an average of 10.40 fouls per game in the Premier League this season. Bukayo Saka is regularly targeted and can be a foul magnet along with Kai Havertz. With doubts about who might play left wing back for Wolves then focusing on the midfield duo of Lemina and Gomes could be the best option. Gomes is priced at 1.50 to commit two fouls while Lemina is an attractive 1.22 just for a single foul or more.

5 28

Arsenal CARDS AND FOULS STATS

Wolves counter-attack could cause issues

Mikel Arteta’s men have been very clean this season and obtained the fewest cards of any team in the Premier League. They average only 1.66 cards per game and are well drilled with discipline. Arsenal also have a low foul average domestically. Kai Havertz is usually a safe bet to commit two or more fouls. His persistent pressing nature often leads to cheap free kicks being given away. Odds of 1.57 on him committing two or more fouls look great bet builder material. Gabriel Magalhaes averages nearly one foul per game and looks big at 1.53 to commit an offence.

4 26

Wolves have drawn an average of 2.38 cards per game from their opponents this season. They are only mid table for fouls drawn and their biggest threat comes from pacey counter-attacking situations. Cunha is fouled nearly twice per 90 minutes while Hwang Hee Chan and Sarabia could also cause issues. The key is identifying who might end up exposed with possibly Gabriel or Jorginho the most at risk.
