Leg 1: Over 4.5 Liverpool corners
The Reds come here as an odds-on favourite and are likely to dominate the contest. Taking them to have over 4.5 corners should be well within their reach considering the personnel on show and the type of match we should expect at Molineux.
Liverpool average exactly six corners per game this season and win them through a combination of saved shots and their attackers causing mayhem out wide. The likes of Mo Salah and Luis Diaz are always looking to take on defenders one on one and Liverpool are not shy of putting in crosses.
A lot has been made of how new manager Arne Slot is targeting set pieces to gain an edge. They have some very accomplished set piece takers, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, so it is well within Liverpool’s best interests to play for corners when the opportunity arises. The visitors should rack up at least five corners on their own here. Wolves have conceded an average of 5.40 corners per game so far this season which adds even more weight to this selection.
Leg 2: Rayan Ait-Nouri to commit 1+ fouls
Wolves left back Rayan Ait-Nouri looks a big price to commit at least one foul here. He currently averages exactly two fouls per 90 mins in the Premier League this season and has a difficult matchup against this Liverpool attack force. The stats and numbers are from a more limited sample size for this campaign, but last season he averaged 0.96 fouls per 90 mins, so in general he’s usually good to commit at least one caution.
Wolves as a team are ranking very high for fouls this season and are desperate to get some more points on the board. He’s facing Mo Salah who is obviously a very tricky opponent and canny enough to win some cheap free kicks if needed. Salah has been fouled 1.60 times per 90 mins so far this season and it’s extremely hard to see Ait-Nouri play a clean match.

Leg 3: Joao Gomes to commit 2+ fouls
Wolves currently average 15.60 fouls per game this season and only West Ham have committed more offenses. They are a team struggling for form, without a win and everyone will be desperate to get stuck in and prove the doubters wrong. Liverpool are a very difficult opponent so Wolves will have to be cynical from time to time here and maybe play dirty if required to rough them up a bit. They will be looking towards their tenacious midfielder Joao Gomes to inspire them in some crucial battles and taking him to commit two or more fouls looks a nice bet builder addition.
Joao Gomes averages 2.40 fouls per 90 mins so far this season and over the course of the previous campaign this figure was 2.24 spread across a lot of games. Gomes picked up 11 yellow cards last season and is right in the heart of the midfield. The likes of Alexis Mac Allister (1.80) and Ryan Gravenberch (1.60) are both fouled close to twice per game for Liverpool and it’s possible some of the wide players could cut inside for Gomes to target as well. This is a tough match and if he comes out of the fixture having avoided multiple fouls then it would be a surprise.
lEG 4: maTHEUS cUNHA TO HAVE 2+ sHOTS
Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha is Wolves’ leading scorer with two goals this season and he averages 2.80 shots per game. Gary O’Neil has been employing a mixture of systems recently, sometimes 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1. Cunha will operate just in behind the striker and often gets into some good shooting positions. Taking him to have just two or more shots looks like a decent addition to any Wolves vs Liverpool bet builder.
He is playing at home and whilst Wolves are significant underdogs, they should get some chances here. Bournemouth racked up a massive 19 shots at Anfield last week, although quite a lot of those were poor opportunities. Cunha is the type of individual player who will happily take a pop at goal when the opportunity arises and should have the confidence after a decent start to the season.
