Wolves vs Newcastle Stats Pack, Bet Builder Tips and Predictions

Wolves vs Newcastle Bet Builder Stats Pack Featured Image

Wolves have been a resurgent force in their last couple of games, they beat Man City and followed that triumph with an excellent 3-1 victory at Bournemouth last week. Gary O’Neil is doing a stellar job so far, but they face a tough test against an in-form Newcastle outfit.

Newcastle have won four of their last five Premier League games and climbed back into the top six spots. They did suffer a midweek setback in the Champions League though when Dortmund surprisingly beat them 1-0 at St James’ Park.

This fixture may be tightly contested, however, read on below for the stats to help you create a winning Wolves vs Newcastle bet builder.

Our Stats Pack Guide can help you better understand them and aid you in your bet builder selections.

Wolves vs Newcastle predicted lineups

Wolves squad in excellent condition

The home side have a fairly clean bill of health with only left back Hugo Bueno ruled out. Rayan Ait-Nouri is arguably the first-choice starter in this position anyway. Gary O’Neil has used six different formations already this season and mentioned in a recent TV appearance how he likes to be very adaptable..

Isak injury concern

Newcastle suffered a big blow in midweek when they lost Alexander Isak to an early injury. He’s ruled out of this game so Callum Wilson will start upfront instead. Sven Botman remains out at the back and Jacob Murphy also went down in the Champions League. Harvey Barnes remains sidelined for the next month or so at least.

Wolves vs Newcastle team stats

Wolves savage with cards

The statistics that stand out are with the Wolves defence, they’ve conceded an average of 1.67 goals per match – out of character. They’ve also conceded a lot of shots (16.11) with nearly six on target against in each contest. As a probable consequence, corners against have also been high (6.11). Another area which really sticks out is the huge number of cards Wolves have obtained (4.00) and they are currently the dirtiest team in the Premier League.

Team Stats 21

Magpies accuracy impressive

Newcastle have averaged 2.67 goals per game although their xG per match is only 2.19. Nevertheless, that is still very healthy, and the Toon Army have been extremely accurate, with over 50% of their shots being on target. That sort of accuracy is very impressive and has served them well. Corners have been surprisingly lower in Newcastle games this season, possibly due to both wide players cutting inside more. Cards have been commonplace again at an average of nearly six in each contest. Newcastle games can get feisty.

Team Stats 22

Wolves vs Newcastle shots and shots on target stats

Meticulous Matheus value to hit the target

The Midlanders are not the most shot-heavy team this season with Hwang Hee-Chan standing out by averaging nearly three attempts per 90. He averages less than one shot on target in each game though which is not great. Both Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha have caught the eye with some strong performances this season but neither of them are huge shooters of the ball either. Cunha does have nearly a 50% accuracy ratio and could be the best option to add to a Wolves bet builder. He is 1.91 to have one or more shot on target which doesn’t look like a bad price considering his metrics.

2 23

Wilson willing to take his chance

With Alexander Isak ruled out with injury this is a chance for Callum Wilson to impress. He averages 4.32 shots per 90 minutes although a lot of his game-time this season has been off the bench. He might operate with a different mentality as a starter but will surely be eager to catch the eye. Wilson has actually been remarkably accurate this season with well over 60% of his efforts on target. He is 1.29 to have three or more shots and 1.25 to have one or more shots on target. Both Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron are likely to fire in at least a couple of efforts each and can be backed at 1.25 in this category.

Wolves vs Newcastle goals and assists stats

Hwang banging in the goals

South Korean frontman Hwang Hee-Chan is the clear standout in this category for Wolves. Out of nowhere he has suddenly become a force to be reckoned with this season and bagged himself five goals. He is a massive 4.50 to score anytime and this is a very tempting price to add to a big bet builder. If Wolves score, he is probably the most likely to net. The other standout player is Pedro Neto who has supplied six assists already. He’s 4.33 to supply another goal which must merit consideration

3 20

Wilson becomes the main man in attack

With Alexander Isak ruled out injured the goalscoring responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Callum Wilson. He’s had a strong campaign though and has netted five times this term, so confidence should not be an issue. Wilson is the shortest price of any player to score in this game at 2.50 but that is still a generous enough price to tempt many in.

3 21

Wolves cards and fouls stats

Super Mario the card king

Averaging a massive four cards per game, Wolves are the dirtiest team in the Premier League. Tons of players have racked up the bookings with Mario Lemina topping the charts by obtaining seven. He averages 1.54 fouls per 90 minutes and is the first port of call when looking at the cards market. The former Lorient man is unsurprisingly a short price of 2.30 to go into the book but that could look big if he’s his normal self. Lemina to have one or more fouls at 1.25 surely merits consideration for any Wolves bet builder.

4 18

Newcastle have drawn an average of 3.33 cards from their opponents in each match. Anthony Gordon could be the main danger with his high dribbling rate and also his ability to antagonise opponents. Considering that Nelson Semedo commits roughly two fouls per game this could be a problematic matchup for Wolves. We can fully expect Bruno Guimaraes to ruffle feathers in midfield, adding further weight to Lemina being a prime card and foul candidate.

5 19

Newcastle cards and fouls stats

Hothead Gordon to test the referee’s patience

The Magpies average 2.56 cards per game and the biggest culprits have been Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes. Gordon is a hothead and can often make rash decisions, so despite his 1.32 foul average the best value is probably to back him to get booked at 3.75. Bruno is more likely to commit some tactical fouls and is priced at 1.20 to have one or more. A better value pick to add to a Newcastle bet builder might be for the Brazilian to have two or more fouls at more juicy odds of 2.0.

4 19

Wolves have drawn 2.67 cards per match from their opponents and possess some skilful players in their ranks, such as Neto and Cunha who love to dribble a lot. Both full backs Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn could come under fire. Trippier especially might be in for a rough evening with wing back Ait-Nouri providing additional problems down his side of the field. Trippier is usually good for at least one foul and can be added at 1.25 in this category.
