Albany Stakes – 14:30
A HOT RENEWAL WITH VARIAN’S CHARGE JABAARA TO LAND THE SPOILS
This race looks like a good one on paper. A number of horses have won on their only run and with improvement expected from most it is a tough contest. Amo Racing saddles four runners and stable jockey K Stott has picked Persian Dreamer, she won in a good time on debut but didn’t back it up next time at York. It would be no surprise to see her bounce back.
JABAARA won first time out at Newmarket over today’s trip. The way she overcame trouble in running and some greenness that day was impressive, she is value for our Royal Ascot day 4 tips and can run close at an each-way (top six) price from what looks like a good draw.
Albany Stakes

Commonwealth Cup – 15:05

LITTLE BIG BEAR CAN SETTLE THE SPRINT DEBATE
Next up is the Commonwealth Cup, the highlight of day 4 Royal Ascot and the sole Group 1 race of the day. The race this year is littered with horses that are returning to the sprint division after, for one reason or another, things didn’t work out when upped in trip.
LITTLE BIG BEAR is one of those after he came out lame when upped to a mile in the 2000 Guineas. He has already shown he retains all of his two-year-old ability when winning the Sandy Lane stakes last time out. The European champion juvenile of 2022 is getting shorter in the betting all of the time but is definitely the one to beat for the second race of our Royal Ascot day 4 tips.

Duke of Edinburgh Handicap – 15:40
THE WILY TEUMESSIAS FOX TO OUTSMART THEM IN THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH
This race is run over one mile and two furlongs on the round course and you would think that being drawn low would be an advantage as you would be on the rail for the bend. However, that is not the case and there hasn’t been a winner drawn in single figures since 2008.
Usually, it pays to follow these stats, however, TEUMESSIAS FOX looks like a horse that won’t spend too much more time in handicap company. He has looked like a new horse since being gelded and although he is up another 7lbs it might not stop him. The A Balding & Osin Murphy combo is always strong and if this horse was drawn high then he would be shorter in the betting and not a tempting each-way (top seven) price, a value pick for our Royal Ascot day 4 tips.
Duke of Edinburgh Handicap

Coronation Stakes – 16:20
LATE SCRATCHING LEAVES THE DOOR AJAR FOR MORE GROUP 1 SUCCESS FOR TAHIYRA
This year the Coronation stakes at day 4 Royal Ascot look like a formality for Irish 1000 Guineas heroin TAHIYRA. Unfortunately, the re-match that we were all anticipating between her and Mawj will not take place after Mawj was declared a non-runner. This filly has looked top class in both her starts this year and the opposition has it all to do to even get close.
A short priced favourite for our Royal Ascot day 4 tips.
Coronation Stakes

Sandringham Stakes – 17:00

ONE MILE IS THE CHARM FOR MAGICAL SUNSET
30 Runners go to post for this 1 mile contest on the straight course. There are lots of horses in with a chance but our preference is for MAGICAL SUNSET at a big each-way (top eight) price. A three-time winner as a juvenile including a debut win against Sakheer (second favourite in the Commonwealth Cup).
Her run at Epsom last time out looked like a step up to a mile is what she needs after finishing so strongly in the listed contest. Her two other outings this season were at group level and she is clearly well-thought of by the Hannon yard.
Sandringham Stakes

King Edward VII Stakes – 17:35
KING OF STEEL TO GAIN COMPENSATION IN THE NICKNAMED ASCOT DERBY
The King Edward VII Stakes is a Group 2 event run over one mile and four furlongs for three-year-old colts. This race looks to be at the mercy of the Derby runner-up KING OF STEEL. His performance at Epsom was out of the ordinary and it was only a supreme performance by Auguste Rodin that meant he finished second.
The main principles all have question marks over them. Arrest looks like he needs much softer conditions. Continuous was disappointing in France last time out and Dubai Mile carries a Group 1 penalty which should only see him finish further behind the selection.
King Edward VII Stakes

Palace of Holyrood house Stakes -18:10
ROCKET RODNEY LOOKING FOR LIFT OFF
With a wide open race to finish off day 4 of Royal Ascot, it may pay to be with a horse that was narrowly beaten at the meeting last year. That horse is ROCKET RODNEY, and that defeat was at the hands of the Commonwealth Cup favourite Little Big Bear by just a neck.
His seasonal reappearance was underwhelming, but he may have needed the run that day. The drop in grade might be just what the horse needs to gain some confidence back and we know he enjoys the track and conditions.
