MK were one of the pre-season favourites, but endured a pretty torrid start to the campaign, they’ve since turned a corner and are unbeaten in 3.

Despite being 14th, MK have the 5th highest xG and 5th highest xP this season. Basically, they should be nowhere near 14th.

Tranmere are the polar opposite. They’ve wildly overperformed their metrics, and now they’re at a similar point, where it’s catching up with them.

They went unbeaten in their first 4, but their results were reliant on sublime individual performances and worldie goals. It’s completely unsustainable.

They have taken 2 points from 4 games, and scored just 1 goal. That includes 2 heavy away defeats, as they went down 3-0 to both Gillingham and Colchester.

There is little comparison between these two in terms of quality. After such a destructive performance in midweek, I expect MK to press on and win this one at a canter.

Wycombe are enjoying a fantastic season so far. They did start the League 1 campaign with back-to-back losses, but these came to Wrexham and Birmingham who are the two clear front runners in the league. Wycombe pushed them close too, losing both 3-2.

Since then they are unbeaten in the league, and have even done well in EFL Cup, beating Championship Swansea before pushing Champions League side Aston Villa close in a 2-1 loss.

Crawley aren’t having such a good time, they’ve picked up just 1 point in their last 6 games, and have scored just twice in that time. Wycombe should have far too much for them here.

A quick glance at Barrow’s recent form doesn’t make for great reading, with two back-to-back losses in the league. Context is needed though, as they were two tough away visits to Gillingham and Doncaster who are very strong.

Back at home, they should bounce back. They are unbeaten on home soil this season, winning 3 and drawing 1, and that should continue here.

Cheltenham’s away record also lines up directly with Barrow’s home form. Cheltenham have drawn 1, lost 3 on the road. Only Accrington (0) have taken fewer points on their travels so far.

Wigan are on a good run, keeping 5 consecutive clean sheets, but the bare results on paper flatter to deceive. They’ve been very lucky to come up against some weak attacks and theirs isn’t much better. Despite keeping goals out, they also went on a 3 run game of failing to score any of their own.

Stockport, by contrast, don’t struggle to score. They have scored 13 to Wigan’s 9 so far and have netted at least twice in 4 of their 8 games.

They have lost just once this season and if they show their attacking strength against Wigan, it’s unlikely that the visitors’ poor attack will be able to peg them back.
