Crawley vs Newport

Newport striker Will Evans is on fire.

He’s scored seven goals so far this season, the joint highest in the league.

And has bagged at least one goal in six of the seven games Newport has played so far in all competitions.

Only Wrexham and Swindon with their mad 5-5 draw the other week have a better goal scoring record than Newport’s 14.

Crawley sold a lot of their best players in the summer, and despite getting the season off to an unexpectedly good start, they’re beginning to struggle now and were battered 6-0 by Swindon two weeks ago.

In fact, Crawley have conceded in every game since their 1-0 win against Bradford on August 5th.

It seems impossible that they’ll stop Newport and Will Evans come Saturday afternoon, but Newport don’t have the best defensive record either so they could easily find a consolation goal at some point.

Every Newport game this season has finished with over 2.5 goals but I’m backing over 1.5 goals to be on the safe side.

MK Dons vs Notts County

League Two leaders, Notts County, travel to second place Milton Keynes in what should be a cracking game.

Despite their league position, both these teams have shoddy defences as a result of their attacking style of play.

MK Dons have conceded 11 goals in just six games. And to put that in perspective, Sutton United have also conceded 11 goals but sit 23rd in the league and have lost their last five games in a row.

Notts Co’s record isn’t much better, the opposition has found the net ten times this season. Again, this is on par with some of the worst teams in the league.

Yet both these teams find plenty of goals that make up for their defensive weaknesses.

The Dons have scored 13 times and have scored in every single game this season.

Whereas Notts Co have racked up 12 goals so far, with only Morecambe denying them a goal.

Both teams have scored in 83% of MK Dons and Notts Co games this season and I expect that percentage to increase following their tie on the weekend.

Fylde vs Aldershot Town

The two worst defences in the league find themselves up against each other this weekend.

In the first seven games of the season, Aldershot have conceded 18 times, have failed to keep a single clean sheet, and have the worst away record in the league.

And if you thought that was bad… Fylde are even worse.

They’ve conceded 19 times so far and have also failed to keep a single clean sheet.

Yet despite this, neither team’s goal scoring record is awful.

Both teams have found the net 13 times this season which averages to 1.86 goals per game.

In Fylde’s case, they’ve scored at least one goal in every game since the new season started.

Incredibly, games involving Fylde and Aldershot have seen 4.57 and 4.43 goals per game respectively. Only games involving Chesterfield manage more.

Both teams will know that this game offers a fantastic opportunity to bag some point. And I don’t expect either of them to hold back.
