Man United vs Leicester
United impressed in midweek with a 2-2 draw against Barcelona. It’s back to league action against a somewhat resurgent Leicester.
Casemiro will serve a suspension here. United are also without Eriksen & Antony. That’s definitely elevated their price but even with their absentees, they’ve got more than enough to get past Leicester.
United are revitalised under Ten Haag and a strong home record has been vital.
United have lost just once at Old Trafford this season. They’ve won 8/11 games here, scoring 21 and conceding just 8 times.
Leicester’s issue has been keeping teams at bay this season. They’re suffering an average xGA of 1.90 on the road, conceding well over 2 goals per game.
They’ve drastically outperformed their xGF as well. Scoring 1.91 goals from just 1.18 xG. Thanks to the likes of Maddison and Tielemans having that edge of quality that can get them a goal from nothing.
That’s not sustainable though and I can’t see them leaving here with 3 points.
The Foxes haven’t drawn a single away game this season (W4, L7). It’s been feast or famine, I expect the latter.
Lens vs Nantes
Lens have had a wobble lately. Losing just 1 game in their first 20, they’ve gone winless in their last 3.
This is a fantastic chance to get back on track.
Nantes have won their last 2. However they came agaisnt a woeful Ajaccio side and an out of sorts Lorient.
Nantes had a gruelling Thursday night test in Turin as they pulled off a 1-1 draw against Juventus.
They got away with murder there though. They were dominated, nicked a goal on the counter and sat on it. Great time to play Juventus too given their poor form and off the field issues.
The energy that game will have taken out of them, plus the travel and quick turnaround to a 2PM Sunday kick off is far from ideal, especially for an away trip.
Nantes will have to rotate to keep things fresh and they lack the depth to do so adequately.
Lens are still a great side and are especially potent at home, they’ve won 10/11 games here this season, the best return of any side in Ligue 1.
Dortmund vs Hertha Berlin
The Black Yellow continued their insane run of form as they beat Chelsea 1-0 here on Wednesday night.
That made it 7 straight wins in all comps and they’ve been difficult to lay a finger on at home.
They’ve won 7/9 here, losing just once.
Dortmund even rotated against Chelsea somewhat, making 4 changes, so they should have plenty in the legs to produce another win here.
Particularly given that no side had more clean sheets at home in the first 20 games of the Bundesliga season. A great sign against a Hertha side who struggle for attacking potency.
Hertha are languishing in the relation places. Although they did break their 4 match losing run with a win over Gladbach.
The headline remains though that the Berliners have won just 4 games all season and only 1 of those has come away from home.
They’ve lost 5 on the spin on their travels and they’ve managed to score just 8 goals all season on the road.
All the signs are here for a comfortable Dortmund win.
