Exeter vs Accrington

This bet is as much about Accrington losing as it is about The Grecians continuing a little purple patch on their own turf.

Stanley are winless in 5 League One matches, taking just a solitary point from the 15 that have been on offer to them.

They’ve failed to score in each of their last 2 matches and find themselves back in the relegation places following back to back wins for MK Dons who’ve now leapfrogged them.

Accrington’s away form has been a massive contributor to their downfall and they’re now 8 matches on the road without a victory.

Exeter have won their last 2 at home. They are in a bit of no man’s land, realistically clear of relegation but not making the play-offs which could have you thinking that there’s some risk here.

I’m not a believer personally in players downing tools in any manor. Exeter will have their eyes on the 3 points here as they aim to secure as high a league finish as possible.

Accrington have scored just 1 goal across their last 4 games and that doesn’t look like changing as their season careers towards disaster.

Hartlepool vs Leyton Orient

At this stage last season, Orient were staring the possibility of National League football dead in the face. Now, they’re just weeks away from being League Two champions.

The gap has closed since Christmas, but Orient do still maintain a 9 point gap to 2nd place with 10 games left to go. There’s some big contests on the horizon so 3 points against 2nd bottom Hartlepool is an absolute must.

Orient are unbeaten in 7 league games whereas Pools are winless in 8 outings and once again face the task of rescuing themselves from a drop in to the National league which could be catastrophic.

Home form hasn’t saved them either with them recording just 1 win in their last 9 matches on their own turf, with the weight of a turning crowd evidently dragging them down.

Given upcoming fixtures, Richie Wellens will set his side out to go and take full advantage of a Pools side devoid of confidence. With Stevanage (vs Salford) and Carlisle (vs Gillingham) facing on paper, trickier games, this is a huge 3 points on offer for the O’s.

Gillingham vs Carlisle

Carlisle travel to Gillingham having gone 6 matches unbeaten in the league. 2 0-0 draws in their last 2 have somewhat stalled their surge but clean sheets at home to Stevanage and away to Bradford are ultimately good results.

The Blues are also unbeaten in 5 away games, keeping 3 clean sheets. Those 5 games included a thumping 5-2 win at Crawley and a 96th minute winner against Swindon.

With the race for automatic promotion being so so tight, every point counts and Paul Simpson’s side will do everything to leave here with at least 1.

Gills have been in good form recently and results at Priestfield have been good but you look a bit deeper and the reality is the highest placed side they’ve beaten in their last 5 home matches is Tranmere (14th), their biggest test came against Bradford who brushed them aside.

Carlisle’s season will be defined on their next batch of results as their games only get harder from here, a positive result here is crucial and they’ve got more than enough to secure it.
