Cheltenham – Gold Cup Best Bet

The week has been littered with Willie Mullins winners and I think that Stattler will continue the trend in the Gold Cup. At 11/1 he is an absolutely fantastic each way bet.

The favourite looks like an absolutely relentless galloper and one of the best chasers we could have potentially ever seen but with the vast amounts of rain this week highlighting his potential stamina doubts, we have to take him on at the prices.

Stattler has stamina in abundance as seen when winning the National Hunt Chase here 12 months ago. He has good form on softer ground and showed his class when giving 8lb to Minella Indo at Tramore before going down a neck on heavy ground over a shorter trip than ideal.

He was then well beat in the Irish Gold Cup by Galopin Des Champs but was given a questionable ride and stayed on very well to claim 2nd in the end. An extra 2 furlongs is bound to see him to better effect.
