QPR vs Ipswich

High flying Ipswich travel to Loftus road on Saturday to take on a poor QPR side who had a season to forget last time around.

They conceded 71 goals last season with only Blackpool conceding more.

Admittedly their backline has changed a bit this season, but they’re still having the same issues. They’ve conceded five goals in their first two games, more than any other teams bar Rotherham.

Meanwhile, Ipswich are enjoying life in the Championship with two wins to kick the 2023/24 season.

They scored an incredible 101 goals in League One last season, which is 19 more league goals than any other team.

Conor Chaplin tore up the league last season and racked up 31 goals and assists, the highest in the league.

Despite being newly promoted, it’s easy to see why bookies have Ipswich down as having an outside chance of winning the league.

I’m expecting plenty of goals here on Saturday and the odds for over 1.5 goals are just too good to ignore.

Wycombe vs Burton

There’s no other way to say this: Burton’s defence is awful.

They conceded 79 times last season, more than any other team in the league apart from bottom of the table Forest Green.

And most of these goals came when they were playing away from home – 46 in total which averages to 2 goals per game.

In fact they only managed three clean sheets away all season.

Unfortunately for them, their defence has barely changed from last season and that’s reflected in the fact they’ve lost their first three games and have already conceded 7 goals.

Wycombe are one of only two teams who have conceded more goals than Burton so far.

However, Wymcombe are a team that can find the net as well. They managed three against Leyton Orient on Tuesday. And they scored a respectable 59 goals across the whole of last season.

These two teams look terrible so far and I won’t be surprised to see them both near the bottom of the table come next May.

Either way, both Wycombe and Burton will know this will be one of their few chances to get a win on the board and I expect a couple of goals to fly in.

Barnet vs Woking

Barnet and Woking are two of the favourites to win the league this season and will face each other on Saturday afternoon.

Barnet finished 5th last time around and scored 75 goals in total and only failed to score seven times in 46 games. And they’ve scored eight goals in their first three games with only Chesterfield managing more.

However, they are particularly infamous for their leaky defence which held them back last time around.

They conceded 69 goals in total which averages to 1.47 per game – this is on par with teams in the bottom half of the table.

And Barnet manager, Dean Brennan, will be very concerned about the fact they’ve already conceded five goals this season against two teams who are not expected to be near the top of the table.

Woking have struggled to get their season going so far but they put three passed Rochdale on Tuesday to find their first win of the season.

But like Barnet, they’re conceding a lot of goals against teams they really shouldn’t be.

Both teams know that if they are to have any chance of competing for the title then they need to win games like this.

I expect this game to be extremely competitive and I reckon both teams find the net at some point.
