Manchester United vs Crystal Palace

Football icon Crystal Palace 3+ Shots on Target
Arrow down

The price bookies are offering here is slightly baffling.

Sure, we’re not talking about Man City or Arsenal here, but three shots on target is a very low bar.

In fact, Palace are averaging 5.17 shots on target per game. This is the seventh highest in the league and above Man United’s average of 4.33.

Crystal Palace have also achieved 3+ shots on target in every single one of their league games this season bar a home game against Arsenal.

Man United’s defensive record leaves a lot to be desired, they’ve conceded 10 times this season and teams playing against them typically rack up 5.5 shots on target.

Even Burnley managed four shots on target against them last weekend.

I’m not saying Palace are going to dominate this game and have loads of chances, but this is such a low bar for the price that I couldn’t ignore it.

Football icon Over 7.5 Match Corners

Games involving Manchester United average 13 corners per game. Only games that involve West Ham see more of them.

United themselves are picking up 6.83 corners per game on average. This increases to 7.6 corners when you exclude their tie against Arsenal away.

In fact, they’ve single-handedly exceeded over 7.5 corners in 50% of their games this season.

They also conceded a fair few corners as well, 6.17 on average.

Palace average 3.5 corners per game (4.0 if you exclude their game against Arsenal) which is nothing to write home about. But in combination with United they should easily see this game past the over 7.5 mark.

Football icon Over 2.5 Match Cards
Arrow down

The main focus here is on Manchester United who pick up a fair few cards.

They’re averaging 2.67 of them per game this season and have picked up two or more card in every single one of their games.

They could easily exceed over 2.5 cards just by themselves.

Palace are actually a disciplined team, they’re averaging 1.5 cards per game with a small trend of picking up more cards when playing tougher teams.

Across the whole of last season Man United averaged 2.05 cards per game, whereas it was 2.16 for Palace.

And remember, we’re only looking for three cards here. Given United’s injuries issues and ramshackle defense plus that fact we’re talking about a cup tie here this bar should easily be exceeded.

Football icon Man United to Commit 10+ Fouls
Arrow down

There will be a lot of chances in the United squad tonight, but it will likely still be a side full of players that can kick people upside down.

They’re averaging 10.5 fouls per game, but Palace are one of the most fouled teams in the league.

Teams playing against them are picking up 12.5 fouls per game on averaging. And that’s not surprising when you consider they have the likes of Ayew, Hughes, Eze, and Schlupp in their squad.

In fact, Ayew is the most fouled player in the Premier League at the moment. He’s fouled 3.77 times per game.

Combined with Hughes who is fouled 2.00 times per 90, Eze (1.83), and Schlupp (1.37), it’s easy to see United picking up 10 or more fouls tonight.
