Newcastle will be looking to add the cherry on top of what has been a fantastic 2022 when they host Leeds on Saturday afternoon. The Magpies currently sit 3rd in the Premier League Table with 33 points, and Eddie Howe has certainly upset the balance of the big 6 so far this season. As for Leeds, it’s largely a case of steadying the ship. Marsch’s side always take an all-action, high intensity approach, but it’s one that sees them just 2 points clear of the drop zone.
Naturally such a style will afford Leeds some attacking success, and it should definitely make for an entertaining game. My value selection and stats pack can be found below to help you with any bets you may be having on this one.
Miguel Almiron 1+ Shots on Target: 1.57 (4/7)
His price may have dropped slightly this week, but this is still a solid selection for anyone looking to add to their bet builders. Almiron has been in scintillating form, and his 2.63 shots P/90, 0.88 of which are on target, is evidence of this.
The Paraguayan has scored or assisted in 8 of his last 9, and had an effort on target in 10 of his last 12. With Leeds conceding 5.13 shots on target per game, Almiron is certainly a man who can find success here, particularly at home.
Leeds 4+ corners: 1.83 (5/6)
Leeds all-action style is one that often makes for an exciting game, and whilst I expect Newcastle to control proceedings, Leeds’ quick bursts forward could lead to success down the flanks in the way of corners.
Marsch’s side are averaging 5.43 per game, including hitting 4 against both Liverpool and Arsenal. With wide men such as Aaronson, Harrison, Summerville, and Gnonto to call upon (4.04, 4.42, 2.83, 1.82 dribbles P/90), they will be able to force the Newcastle defence backwards. Newcastle concede an average of 4.38 per game, and have conceded at least 4 on 10 occasions this campaign.
Tyler Adams to be booked: 3.20 (11/5)
Tyler Adams comes into this one having missed the midweek clash against City through suspension, and Saturday’s game could prove a serious test to a player already carded 5 times in 13 this season, and one who makes 1.92 fouls P/90.
Adams’ aggressive and tenacious style could be his undoing here. He’ll be up against the likes of Guimaraes, and Joelinton, fouled 2.92, 1.09, times P.90. Adams attempts 4.00 tackles P/90, a dangerous game to play against such crafty, and hard-working, midfield opposition. Saint-Maximin is the X-factor here. If given game time, he will drift inside, and his 8.14 dribbles P/90 could catch Adams unaware.
