Manchester United vs Newcastle
Casemiro has completely transformed United’s midfield. His commanding presence has been integral to their excellent form.
As good as he is, his whole game is about breaking things up, being combative and ultimately being a bit of a b******d.
He averages 2.27 fouls/90 in the Premier League this season.
Crucially too, his Brazilian counterpart Bruno Guimaraes returns to the midfield for Newcastle. He’s their driving force in there and they struggle greatly without him.
He draws the most fouls of any Toon player who’s played substantial minutes. He’s been felled 42 times this season, 15 more than anyone else; at a rate of 2.71 times/90.
Joelinton is the chief enforcer in a very physical Newcastle side. The big Brazilian has had 9 cards this season, 4 more than anyone else in the squad.
He averages 1.89 fouls/90 and against a dynamic United attack, he should see plenty of action and ample opportunities for a foul.
He’s made at least 1 foul in 13 of his last 14 starts. His only blank came against Liverpool which was also the only match he didn’t complete the fully 90 minutes.
As much as Newcastle rely on Bruno as a creative outlet, he’s also a big part of their bite. He loves getting stuck in and his brilliant engine sees him getting all over the pitch to make things happen.
He averages 1.42 fouls/90 and made a ridiculous 5 in his last appearance, which was the semi-final 2nd leg against Southampton.
With Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Fred all drawing comfortably above 1 foul/90, this shouldn’t be tough to tick off.
