Liverpool vs Man Utd

Football icon Mo Salah to score or assist
Arrow down

Salah has managed 10 goals and 4 assists in his 12 appearances against United. That’s a phenomenal record and the Egyptian goes into this one in top form, with 11 goals and 7 assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season.

When we break it down to how long he’s been on the pitch his record sounds even better. He’s managing a goal or an assist every 60 minutes when he plays against United, and every 76 minutes so far this season.

It’s hard to predict who will start in defense for United. Maquire and Shaw went off injured in the week and Martinez is a long-term absentee. Coming up against such depleted opposition at Anfield, I expect Mo to have at least one goal involvement on Sunday.

Football icon Sofyan Amrabat to be carded
Arrow down

With 2.07 fouls per 90, the Moroccan averages more fouls per game than any other United Player. He likes a booking in the big games. He was booked against Munich on Tuesday when United were knocked out of the Champions League with a whimper, and he was also booked against Man City earlier in the season. He’s been booked 5 times in all competitions so far this campaign.

Midfield is another area that United are looking pretty depleted. Fernandes is suspended for this game, Mount, Eriksen, and Casemiro are all still recovering from injuries, and with McTominay weirdly becoming one of their most potent threats going forward Amrabat could be in for a long afternoon against a revitalized Liverpool midfield.

He’s likely to come up against Liverpool’s most fouled player in Szoboszlai and i think he could find himself in quite a few desperate situations during this one.

Football icon Scott McTominay to commit 2+ fouls
Arrow down

McTominay is United’s second most frequent fouler this season, with 16 so far at an average of 1.43 per 90. He’s definitely upped the intensity of his fouling in recent games, though, with 2+ fouls landing in four of his last six matches.

The middle of the park is somewhere United could really struggle at Anfield and with the likes of Salah and Liverpool’s most fouled player in Szoboszlai knocking around, I think McTominay is a good bet to be involved in the action.

Football icon Dominik Szoboszlai to commit 2+ fouls
Arrow down

Szoboszlai is Liverpool’s third most prolific fouler with 19 so far this season. His average is 1.27 per game, but it is interesting to see how those numbers change in the more emotionally charged matches against some of Liverpool’s close rivals.

He made 3 fouls against Man City the other week, and also landed 3 against Newcastle and Chelsea. All in all he’s made 2 or more fouls in 5 league games this season. He’s priced at 3.3 to do the same again here and I think that’s great value considering how much emotion we will see out on the pitch in this one.
